There is some beleifs that our mind (or soul) are separate from our physical being. If this is true then it is feasible that they could split at certain times and allow an 'outer body experience'

Often it's said that people who are near to death are able to project themselves to those who are close to them and deliver last messages. It's as if the spirit is slowly stretching away from the physical body before it finally snaps and leaves this realm.

Of course none of this has been scientifically proven and it all comes down to ones own beliefs.

To have an out-of-body experience, your soul must first leave the body. This is thought to be done during sleep, or when dying, possibly while in a traumatic situation. I can't say that I have consciously had this happen to me, but I have had dreams where I'm sure it must have happened. Not too long ago, I dreamt my soul had left my body, and I was "in-between" life and death, so I pleaded (whether outloud or just in my mind, I can't remember) for the Lord to bring me back, and He did! It was scary, because I wondered if it was imagination, or if I had been close to death. According to some, this leaving of the body while asleep is typical for everyone, whether they recall it or not.

I think it has something to do with the biological processes in the brain. Perhaps a few of those experiences are related to God, but since I don't believe in the immediate transfer of a body's spirit to either Heaven or hell, then I believe that most of those experiences are of Satan.
I believe that we are all asleep in the grave until Jesus's return. Then we will be resurrected and judged. The righteous will spend eternity with God, while the unrighteous/unsaved will burn up. I don't think hell will be an eternally burning fire of torture. The punishment there will be eternal though....as in the people who are burned there will be eternally dead, gone, will never come back.

Some have a natural ability, some people are just open enough to let it happen & recognize it when it does. And then there is the ones that come to you...in the night. The spirit is not chained to the body, it wants to fly. But our conciousness blocks the knowlegde of how to achieve it. ; )

To believe in out of body experiences you have to believe that there is a soul or spirit. If you believe that then you have to ask why it wouldn't be possible.
