I had a problem with a teacher calling my kid a Satanist in front of the entire class. I do know where you are coming from but I think you are WAY overreacting to this situation and you are not teaching your child any kind of tolerance.

whatever religion you follow teaches tollerance does it? Would it not be better if all religions were taught so as to give everyone a better understanding of other's beliefs and cultures rather than isolate yourself away from other cultures? I assume that you have tollerance for people who might say the same about your choice of belieft? I am guessing from the tone of your missive that 'probably not' is the answer. You are, what they call, a biggot, shallow, a racist of the worst order.
I wonder what would have happened if your child sneezed and someone said 'bless you' - how dare they ram their ideological beliefs down their throats.
As far as I can see it will be put down to an error of judgement, that a teacher did something connected with a religion in a state funded school - which is outlawed.
Suing will be newsworthy, will probably cost you or the taxpayer a great deal of money for not much and the teacher will be hailed a hero (or heroine) for religious causes and will make money on chat shows and by writing a book thus giving even more air time to her beliefs to a wider audience. Probably dinner with the Bush family. I say go for it!
If I didn't know you from this question your others give me a clue!

You left out the rest of the story--the school in question has had numerous violations of state and federal laws forbidding promotion of religion at school and school related functions. They have been ordered by the court to cease doing this, but like most fanatics have ignored it and keep doing it, and then whining about persecution when they get caught. Here's a slightly more balanced account: "In January, a federal judge issued a preliminary injunction against the school, and in May school officials signed paperwork in which they admitted wrongdoing on the part of the district. They also promised at that time that school staff "would no longer take part in religious activities." However, the principal and a district clerk were charged with violating the injunction and consent order, so now they're facing contempt of court fines, in addition to legal fees stemming from the original lawsuit." So they agreed they were wrong, then signed an agreement not to do it anymore, then went ahead and ignored that agreement and did it again anyway. Bet that's not how Huckabee presented it, right?

Whatever your beliefs, your rabid intolerance is a bigger problem and just as fanatical as the religious fanatics which brought us the Salem witch trials, the Spanish Inquisition and modern Islamic terrorism. Religion doesn't cause these things. People like you do. Just because your particuler brand of fanaticism is not religious or a non-Christian religion doesn't change the sheer hatred you go about your life with.
An appropriate response would be to contact the teacher and say don't do that. If the teacher continued then that would be an issue. All you did was create equal fanaticism on the opposite side. This teacher will go to thier support base and say "all I did was" and people will hate you as much as you hate them. People you've never met. Who will do things to people like you and so on. Do you see the chain of events? Or perhaps thats what you want.
Sorry I'd rather see you sued than the school.

You can sue if you want to.
But what did your 6 year old do or say to prompt it.
Because of law suits and school district policies and personnel training, most teachers would be reluctant to offer a prayer in a school setting, UNLESS prompted by a question from a student.
Freedom of speech applies to teachers and Christians. If you are incensed, then talk to your child and undo any damage you perceive to have been done.
This incident can be a great foundation for communication and teaching between parent and child.
AND...get used to it, the schools teach tolerance. 11 more grades to go!

Do you really think that being forever banned from her chosen profession for offering a single prayer is a just sentence? I am a Humanist and believe strongly in separation of church and state, but let's not be vindictive. The school suspended the teacher. Good for them. What the teacher did would have been perfectly appropriate at her church or Sunday school class, but not in a public school. Now she has time to consider the appropriateness of what she did. Let's hope she respects the diversity of her students and realizes that she's there to teach, not preach.

You sir (or ma'am) are a very pathetic person. A teacher prays for your child - which is not a curse by any means - nor was it an intent of harm but more akin to wishing him well - and all you can do is rant like a rabid senseless animal.
Suppose because you're offending all Christians we sue you for everything you have or ever will have because you have offended our religious freedoms?
I promise - if an Atheist says to a child of mine.., "I wish you well".., I am NOT going to go freak because he used a Atheist style blessing. GET A LIFE - apologize to the school and reinstate the teacher who NEEDS to earn a living just like you do.
You are a selfish evil, bitter human being.
PS - I wont sue you - was just making a point. Just as you have a family to support - that teacher has a family to support and she did not have any evil intention of causing your child nor you any harm. GROW UP!

Yes you can sue your school, but, why? You don't state what if any religion you follow. It makes no difference. The teacher should have and apparently was reprimanded. Why should you receive monetary compensation for that? Christians are hated worldwidw. so are Jews and Muslims and Hindus and every other religion. Hate is everywhere. Stop preaching hate to your child. Instead teach them tolerance. Everyone has a right to their opinion and you can not stop that. You must instill in your child your beliefs about religion and allow them to ask you questions when they arise. But please do not teach them to hate. There is too much of that going on in the world already.

Did the teacher pray said prayer at school? During class? Then yeah, maybe.
But sheesh. One prayer? That's "Shoving it Down your Throat" brainwashing?
Brainwashing? Listen to yourself.
What's he supposed to do when he's 18, goes out with some friends, and one of them says a prayer out loud before eating? Freak out and sue his friend?
What are you so afraid of?

WOW......aren't you setting a great example for your child,do you read stories to your child ,like all the old standards,Mother Goose ,Cat in the Hat , The Three Bears,if so maybe you should be turned into the social services for reading pagan crap to your child...and what about your child ,what are you shoving down his throat, and you are brainwashing him to not tolerate other peoples believes, but i guess it would have been OK,if the teacher was discussing, abortion,or gay and lesbian rights, now that's OK with you ...right,you are a disgusting excuse for a parent, you brainwash your child to the way you think but anything else you don't happen to believe in oh no he's not to know of that, well guess with all the protesting you have done and the way kids are today you will soon have a christian on your hands, because kids usually go against what the parents believe...thank you ,and God thanks you too.
