Jesus exists, but I believe I see your point.

Any beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
Since some, it seems allot by the postings on this website, believe Christ died for your sins then the merits of his actions would be changed if he didn't exist wouldn't they?
He has undeniably had great influence over the world weather he existed or not.

As a literary work I don't find the prose in the Bible to be particularly good and certainlly not as beautiful as, say Shakespear or Philip Rostand's Cyrano D'Bergerac. My belief is that it was just a popular book that was taken too far. I wonder what would have happened if the book had been, say, one of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales - would we now be worshiping the child from a poor background that 'changed his stars' and became a knight. Its the same story in effect. Rags to Riches - probably teh story of les misearbles would have been interetsing -poor man makes criminal flees, steals, sees the light and then becaomes good and upright pillar of society only to be bought down again. Same story different setting.
In short the answer is no: without the belief that jesus existed it is just a poorly written old book.

What a nice thing to say about Jesus.
If he didn't exist though, how would we know what he said? I don't know if it is good or bad whether he existed or not.
He was meant to exist because he did, just like you or I,
We are meant to be here simply because we are.
Jesus said some cool things,
but then, so did many people all throughout history, crap, I say some pretty darn profound things myself,
it just depends on how far your word spreads,
but then inevidably,
your words get more and more distorted as they go down the telephone line.

Comic book characters don't exist, but they teach millions of children about self-sacrifice, heroism, standing up for what's right, not backing down from evil, kindness, altruism, respect for human life. That's the purpose of myth and legend, it to teach the big themes.
I read the beattitudes and they resonate. But by the time the gospel of John gets written you just have Christological dogma written into Jesus' mouth by his followers 70 years later. In the Gospel of Mark, the original of which ends with 16:8, we have Jesus the rabbi, and he's a good teacher, though hardly original. With the subsequent gospels we have Jesus the myth and man-god. So you have to sort out original Jesus from later invention.

If HE really didnt exist.. At least His "words" and influence have made many turn away from evils. This is despite many do otherwise.
Do we need His existence to do good for others? Are human race are so hypocrite.. and so childlike that we need someone to overlook at us before we show our compassion and love for others?...Think bout it..

Eat More Tofu...You Shall See. If JESUS did not exist, I believe prophets of God, who had another plan, would speak all words and perform all actions as our Lord did. We are blessed to have a perfect example of leadership...the same as Superman, who with all humility and with all power, humbled Himself as Servant to man for the express purpose of lifting Man to "Judge Angels" and be counted as Sons Of God for the suffering and challenges we deal with that make us qualified to rule with Him into eternity and honored above all so long as we remember who is in authority over all creation and submit the greater portion of our will to his kindness.

If a solid case came to light exposing his existence as a lie it would certainly diminish his influence.
As to the beauty of his words, please understand that many of us do not share your view. The positive aspects of the message attributed to him were not new.
The merits of his actions is a fuzzier concept. If you mean the concept that he "died for our sins," my co-thinkers and I would find this merit-less. If you mean his spirited defense of the needy and down-trodden, then you would have us on board in favor of those actions.

If he didn't exist, how would his words, actions, or influence even be here? That's what I don't get.

Yes, because it is His Spirit that brings life and power to His words. If He did not exist, and I know that He did, and is, and will always be, then we are most miserable because we die in the flesh daily with no hope.
