The bible tells us that we (Christians) should be drawing close to him. So I encourage you to do that. Think about it, is it worth spending time in ghosthunting than knowing more about our Lord Jesus Christ. Another thought, will ghosthunting bring you closer to Jesus? (Colossians 3:1-4) I also want to encourage you to talk to your pastor if you need more help (Jeremiah 3:15). I hope this was helpful.

You have to ask yourself whyyou are a Christian and what draws you to the paranormal. Perhaps they are related in some way. You may be searching for something. Try meitation or yoga, both can be introspective. Buddism and the teachings of the Dali Lama may help as well. All of this can be done without challenging your christisn beliefs.

While it is certainly a sin to contact the dead and engage in spiritualism, it is not a sin to be knowledgable about the spirit world.
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5
Correct me if Im wrong but the ghost hunters are not trying to contact them or engage them, but merely observe and study them in a scientific way right? In that case go for it! I myself am interested in watching things like the history channel about hauntings and spirits. Its good to know the nature of the world we live in. Just remember who Jesus is and our mandates not to spiritists, mediums, and such.
You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons. -1 Corinthians 10:21

I grew up as a Christian and had many spiritual hauntings and things happen around me. There is a difference between seeking knowledge about such things and seeking to control/possess such things. As a Christian, you should not fear spirits or the paranormal, but trust in God's protection. But, you should arm yourself against ill meaning spirits and demons, who can attack you not only spiritually, but physically.

Not seeking to know more is the exact same as being ignorant and eating all the crap that Christianity wants to feed you.
When I was a kid, I asked my mother if anybody would believe me if I really saw Jesus. She said that they most likely wouldn't, and think that I'm crazy.
If a teenage girl from the wrong side of town had a baby in her womb and told people that an angel came to her one day and that she'd be giving birth to our next savior... Would you believe that?
I don't think there's anything wrong in exploring. Who knows... maybe by exploring, you'll be brought back to your Christian faith and it'll be even stronger.

My mother was always interested in that stuff too and she is a devout Baptist. Her mother and Aunt even saw a ghost once although one saw an old lady and the other saw a big bird emerge from the closet under the stairs and go upstairs and disappear in the hall. So go ahead and read all you want about the subjects which interest you.

It is wrong. ghosts are demonic spirits
satan is real
They are fully engaged in spiritual warfare with bible believing Christians.
paranormal "stuff" is demonic.
There are many, many bible verses to back this up.
I encourage you to study your bible. As Christians our identity is in Christ - we are to follow Him.
Revelation 21:8 says "But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers, and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."
sorcery is magic, magicians are into "paranormal stuff" too
read Galatians 5
ghosts are demons (and they know God)
James 2:19 You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder."
Please stay away from paranormal stuff. Look to Jesus the author and perfector of your faith.
Hope this is helpful to you.

I am a Christian and have been told not to look for answers in anything but God as well. I think that knowledge is part of the freewill god gave us. If we do not find out about other religions and such, how can we be sure we came to God by choice and not indoctrination?

The people who tell you not to research other areas are scared of thinking too much. It's perfectly fine to learn about other things if you are a Christian. If you are truly strong in your faith it will have no negative effect on you.

What do you think about this?
2Ch 33:6 And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
