Most people take the SAT in 11th or 12th grade, although gifted students occasionally take it earlier than that. It is supposed to measure how well a student will do in college. You can find out all about it at the link below.

The SAT is for 11th and 12th grade. I got 2 perfect scores in math and reading, but my writing score was only 720, for a total of 2320. I only read this SAT guide, and that is how I got such high scores:

Most people take in Spring of junior year and/or fall of Senior year in high school.
