The truth about race, to the best of my knowledge, is that we all started from the same place; from the same race. These races split into 3 primary races; The Negroids (the blacks), the Caucazoid (the whites) and the Mongoloids (this one encompasses all the others).
The color of the skin is made up of three different pigments; a brown, a yellow and a clear. All people of all races are made up of all three, in varying amounts: all except for albinos that is. The different colors and the different shapes and sizes of each of the races came about because these were the most optimum for the region of the world they resided.

The Negroids lived mostly in Africa, near the equator. It tended to be very hot all the time. So they tended to grow taller, and leaner because that was the best design to help shed body heat. Their skin was made up of mostly the brown pigment, because being in the sun as much as they were, it was not necessary for them to have as much of the clear pigment, which will help produce vitamins that they can get from the sun itself.

The Caucazoids lived further up north; it was a much colder climate, with less heat and sun. They tended to be shorter and a little stockier because that was the best design to help the body retain heat. They had more of the clear pigment in their skin because they did not get as much sun as the Negroids did so they needed the clear pigment to help produce some of the necessary vitamins that they could not get from the sun.

The Mongoloids tended to live in a more neutral climate. I am not sure why they had more of the yellow pigment, nor what benefit it provides. The term slant eyes which some have used to describe them is not altogether accurate. There eyes are not really slanted; they have a larger upper eye lid then the Negroids or the Caucazoids, this is believed to have developed to give their eyes more protection against things like glaring sun and/or blowing wind. All other races other then the Blacks and the Whites, developed off of the Mongoloid race.

Like all other animals on earth, the species of man changed and evolved and adapted to what ever was necessary to best survive in the climate that they were living in. No one race is overall better then the other, however, each one is better suited for what ever climate they were designed to survive in then any of the others.

Oh yeah, I like giraffes too. :-)
