I dont know about where you lived, but I live in the Northeast and during the World Cup I stayed in my hometown (ny), traveled to Ohio, Boston, and Connecticut.
In all four of these areas I saw sooo many different flags! Italian flag (ESPECIALLY after they won), French flag, Polish flag, Brasilian flag, German flag. And I know for a fact a lot of these people putting up the flags were citizens.
Would you (who get offended by Mexicans [not just illegal immigrants, all Mexicans] putting up their flag) be offended by this?
Personally, I think it is okay to represent where your family is from and their heritage. Its great to represent this country, but lets face it, there is no such thing as a "pure" american. Our family history can all be traced back to something different, whether that is European, African, or Native American.
I do not think putting up other countrys' flags are wrong? Do you? And do you think these people putting up the flags for the World Cup are wrong as well

I do not object to people putting up their ancestral country's flag as long as they are Americans and see themselves as Americans first. In a spirit of good humor, I enjoy seeing the Italian, German and other flags flying. I also enjoy being invited over for some traditional food, music and dancing.
I think the big concern about the Mexican flag is that millions of Mexicans are insisting they are 'conquering' America rather than becoming Americans. A Zogby poll found that 58% of Mexicans believe that Mexico owns the Southwestern US and that Mexicans have a right to conquer it. That is the definition of 'enemy'.

No I am not offended by the flags people fly. I do not think they should DISGRACE THE AMERICAN FLAG!!! Their flag says HEY I AM PROUD OF MY HERITAGE, and that is okay. However, I do think that a person lives in the USA and flies the flag to show their family heritage should also loyally and appropriately display the United States of America Flag! They should be LEGAL CITIZENS too!
You answered another question about the CONFEDERATE flag, and talked about heritage in that response. The CONFEDERATE FLAG is not about slavery. I know that is what they teach in schools. Try doing some in depth studying for yourself. Whether you change you view or not, It is still the HERITAGE of many people - BLACK SOUTHERNERS included - I know a black man who has the proof his grandfather fought for the confederacy in the war between the states! Many of them fought for the south just like many BLACK NORTHERNERS fought for the union army. So the North won the war. I had ancestors who fought in the Union Army too. It doesn't change the fact that it happened and our ancestors (Union and Confederates) died during the war. It is still our Heritage. I realize there are ignorant simpletons who disgrace the confederate flag and use it as their symbol while they promote racism and hatred. They do NOT speak for my ancestors who fought in the war between the states. Of course there are some who without any racist thoughts display it as a southern symbol, but don't have a clue what it really means. They're just good ole boys.

The protocol for hoisting flags is the host nation's flag flies higher, out of respect for the privilege to be allowed to fly the other nation's colors. This is a tradition that predates the US. But, on the topic of displaying another nation's colors? I still fly the flag of Eire, when they win anything. I have no problems with Mexico. They are a nation, like any other.

There is no known occasion when another country's flag should be flown independently over American soil. It is acceptable to fly another nation's flag along-side the American flag, and there are many regulations related to such display.
The American flag has priority over other flags based upon the display position. Although it used to be that the American flag was always flown at a higher level than any others over American soil, that is no longer true. Only during times of war may any nation's flag be flown higher than another's.
For details on appropriate display of multiple flags, please follow the link below.
Since display of any flag is representative of support for that nation, it is only right to do so in the proper manner. Therefore, anyone who is flying a different country's flag over American soil should follow the proper guidelines. Thus, I feel that those who "wave the flag" without regard to these international laws, are being disrespectful of both their home country, and the country they intended to support.

Sporting events are another subject entirely. At an international sporting event, it is a source of National Pride...and the winning team has 'bragging rights'--I'm all for that. And in all reality the host-country's flag is flying above the event as it should be.
But, when the Mexican flag is hoisted in place or above an American flag it is a hateful protest against America. Yep-it is a HATE CRIME and should be prosectued as such.

In July 2003 President Bush autographed a small flag. This picture was circulated across the Internet noting its violation of the Flag Code: "The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature." Click picture for enlargement. Photo credit: AP Photo/Charles Dharapak
This just goes to show you what our dear president thinks about the United States Flag.

There are right ways and wrong ways to display any flag. The fact that the America flag was taken down replaced by a Mexico flag is just a little to dangerous. No one from the World Cup was running around to post offices putting up their flag then laughing and smiling saying it's our land nor were they shouting all about fruit or lawns. Why you support people who do abnormal things is beyond me.

The reason why everyone was pissed off about people posting the mexican flag was because they were asking for rights in the USA. People were chanting is all about Mexico, but they're fighting for rights in the US. I feel if you think you think its all about Mexico, then take your a-s-s back to Mexico!! The same would be said if someone was protesting for immigration rights in the US and they were holding up a Haitian flag, or Chinese flag, etc!

The mexicans jerked down the United States flag flying over the Federal Post office in Maywood, CA; then raised theirs.
So any sympathy I had for the illegals disappeared. So far as I'm concerned that was an act of war by a foreign nation.
NO to their parasites living off our welfare system.
NO to their Criminals
NO to their Gangs
NO to their Perverts and Child Molesters
NO to Illegals!!!!!

There is a huge difference between celebrating ones heritage and with illegal invaders promoting their "own" country in an effort to "take over"
Too often the American flag has been removed or desecrated. The illegals took our flag down from a federal building and replaced it with their own....how treasonous is that!
We are sick and tired...absolutely fed up....and finished with this discussion. Illegals are criminals and must be deported. We must build a wall......we must remove those who wish to undermine our nation.
If you do not think that the illegals and the liberals have an agenda, then it's time you gave up the fairy tale and grew up.
