What's really interesting is those defending their 'religion' are the most likely to personally attack those that don't support their view. That says something!

Let me check with Pat Robertson and get back to you as soon as he tells me what to say.

Yes and no. I dislike organized religion for that very reason. All major religions.
That does not mean though that one can ignore all the bs and concentrate on the light and not the light switch per se.
I practice Ifa, an ancient African religion. We don't have churches, we don't tithe or get told what to do. We can pray for money, love, protection, etc. With none of the bs that the organized religions do. Not just control, they scare their followers into conformity with silly ideas of a heaven in a future life. What about this life, the one we are living in now?

I agree. There is quite a difference between spirituality and religion. Religion has been attempting to control people for centuries. Many horrid deeds have been done in the name of Christianity (which has nothing to do with Jesus Christ).

"when a genius does something I don't understand why is it that I think HE is wrong?"

Try not focusing on religion, but on the words of the Book.

It's easier on your pride if you don't have to involve anyone else in the begining. You are bitter like ashes right now. Spend 5 minutes reading. If you want to argue against us, use your words. Look them up first. You might just find something that interests you. Its a whole Book of Passion, betrayal, and redemption.

Good luck, God Bless.

Yes religion can be about control. Churches/ Synagogues/ Mosques can induce alot of control on those who would rather be told what to do or how to think. But religion is truly about freedom. You are free to believe in whichever god suits your fancy. You are also free to allow the church to affect your thinking about right and wrong or prejudice and acceptance or rights and responsibilities. The choice is up to each individual.

In the way I beleive anythat would control you or force you against your will is wrong. Even at church we are allowed to openly question what is said or done, and if we do not agree with it then we do not have to do that particular ritual, dance, ect.We do not even force people to attend if they are more comfortable to practice on thier own. It would interfere with our rights to be ourselves.I will agree that no matter what faith it is there are some churches who do have way too much control over the people who attend them and this is wrong! This is what turns people against having faith in anything and needs to be stopped.
Just my two cents.

They don't see it because it's not true. God is Spirit, and those that accept His Gift of Salvation are reborn as spiritual beings. They come under the tutelage of the Holy Spirit Who aids in the transformation of the mind from carnal and worldly to spiritual and free.

Religion is the ultimate con, it is government protected, tax free and the product they sell doesn't have to be delivered until you reach a place that doesn't exist. No wonder so many people jump on this manured money wagon.

No one controls me. I chose to believe in the Lord because of the presence I felt - not because I was "brainwashed" or forced to believe. I believe with all my heart. I believe in Him without ever seeing Him. That is a spiritual belief.

Why can't people see that a life without God is a life of enslavement?

Though I do agree you need to keep a close eye on organized religion...

Why cant you see that religion is about believing in the one and only true God that created everything?

It is you who are unspiritual by suggesting we not follow Jesus.

Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent." -John 6:29
