No, but growing up if my dad would yell at me our Boston Terriers would bark at him. Even now if they see people wrestling or messing around, if they think someone's getting hurt they'll start barking.

Well I have been lucky enough never to have had a serious incident that my dogs had to protect me from, but I know they will when the time comes. If someone comes in my door when I am sleeping my dog goes crazy and stands guard over me on the bed, he lays right on top of me and growls and barks at the person... this happened a few times when my Bf came home late and my dog actually bit my brother quite hard (although not seriously) when he came into my room to wake me up one time and was bugging me, my dog got mad and gave him a warning bite. My dog also does not tolerate any rough housing and if someone is trying to play fight me he gets right between us and jumps on the other person... lol I can make him jump on anyone if I say "ouch" nobody is allowed to hit me in my dogs presence, he is very protective. He will also protect any aquaintance from others and he infallibly picks the weaker person to defend, my nephews learned pretty quick that my dog doesnt tolerate physical bickering between brothers.. lol My other dog is also protective but she just barks, my male dog is the one who takes his guard duties seriously and I know without a doubt that he will defend me from any danger I am not afraid of anything with him to protect me.

Yes, I've had the good luck to have 2 such dogs in my life. When I was a little girl, we had a female mixed breed who attacked and killed a big rat that got into the house when the house was being renovated. When I was in my 20s, we had a Rottweiler whose 150 lb. growling, drooling presence stopped a would-be burglar.

Yes
I have owned Dobermans for 17 years.
My first male and I used to walk in the early mornings and he would stay very close to me and growl at passing people.
Once a man tried to come up to us and he got between me and the man and started growling and showing teeth when the man took a setp closer he started to bark and snap at him. The man left.
He was a very protective dog. I still miss him.

yes I have a great Dane Australian shep mix that weights 110# and no one can come into my home unannounced or he goes nuts. once i tell him ok he settles down. when anyone approached me on the street when we are walking he takes a stand until i tell him OK. one night a friend of mine had car trouble and had to come to my home to use the phone and he knew this friend but I was no home and he would not let her in to use the phone till i got home another time a friend came in late at night to sleep on my couch and my latch was on and when she opened the door he went nuts and he knew her and still went nuts till i got up and let her in.

Yes we had someone kick in our front door and Hermione (chow/shepherd mix) growled and barked so loud that it alerted the neighbors they scared the guy off before he could take anything.
