Everytime I open Microsoft Word, I have to go to view header/footer, put my name, indent all the way to the other side and put the date. Is there a way to make it so that everytime I go onto Word my name and date are just there by default/automatically? ThxAbunch.

Open Word. Then use the FILE menu and pick NEW. Look for the radio button that says DOCUMENT, and click on the one next to it that says TEMPLATE. Use Save As and save this file with a new name like "myStuff.dot" Do not overwrite Normal.dot.

Customize myStuff.dot all you want. Then when you open a new document through the menu, you will see myStuff.dot in the list of new document templates.

If you DO save your personal template as normal.dot, be sure that others know that you are using a non standard template.

Good luck

Create your own blank document.

Open a new Word document.
Set the margins you want.
cl View, cl Header
Type in your name on the left side (if that is what you want)

Create a right tab, probably at 6.5 or 7 inches.
Tab to the right tab
On the header/footer toolbar, click the "insert date" button
close the header/footer toolbar

Now, cl File, Save AS
Save it to something like "0 blank Word document w-name & date"

This way, the 0 will keep this blank file at the top of the list of files. When you want to create a new file with this header, open the 0 blank file, then File, Save As to a new name.

The 0 will keep your blank document at the top of the list, but the file you created with File, Save AS will be before you with your name and date in the header.

I do a lot of work in Word and this works for me.
You could simply change the default settings of the "normal" document, but I do so many other things I do not want to have to remove the header when I want to create a different type file.

I hope I have explained this clearly to you.
