my friend told him today that i am so in love with him and he was so happy about it, even when he left and came back like an hour later he told my friend that he was so happy about it, and that i should of told him this earlier. I;m kinda confused why was he so happy if he is so happy with his girlfriend please help

Well he's got a girlfriend... so that kind of makes things difficult. If he likes you, and you him, then he should dump his current gf so he can give the two of you a shot. IF he wants to just see how things are with the two of you while he's still with his girlfriend, forget about him. You're just in for heartbreak. If he's the type of guy to do that, he'll do it to you later on in life (That's on the off chance that he even breaks up with her for you).

The tenure with his girlfriend may be or has been on a slow, steady decline from it's zenith. The feelings for each other are not as deep as they once were but there has been so much invested into the relationship it is somtimes difficult to just throw that away. He probably sees in you the very attributes that are missing in his current relationship . . . in each relationship you grow, learn and find what you really love and need . . . you may be that person.
