I want to know people's opinions on this. I am about to begin writing my senior paper at school, and my topic is whether or not we, the inhabitants of our mother earth, should find a cure to such "incurable diseases" (cancer, AIDS) that are plaguing our world?I would just like some input, and I want some true answers. I mean really tell me about the pros and cons. Because, my biggest concern is that if people knew about these cures that they would be more careless in the way they lead their lives and be less protective of themselves and others. I would also fear the conflict around which scientist from which country/place had found the cure, because I'm sure depending on who/where they might charge to take the cure. That they would charge people who needed it, such as the situation in Africa now surrounding AIDS. The US has the medications to help this population survive, but with all that power we abuse it to charge impoverished nations become into debt even more. Please, feedback.

I think that is a very good topic. I think that issues like overpopulation (which we already see) and more carelessness in life cold be a major problem if we were to find cures to these diseases, but I don't believe that is a reason to try to end the pain and suffering caused by them. I think in some cases, the morning after pill can cause people to be more careless about sex, however I believe that it should still be available. One reason a cure is a especially important with regards to AIDS is that people with the disease have the ability to transmit it to others, making it essentially a weapon.

Well i have to be honest with you a cure for aids and even cancer would be the best thing to happen to humanity in a very long time.Think about people that you may know or family affected by these terrible diseases. And even yourself, anyone of us (although) Aids is preventable no one is imune to the big C,And personally for me i have kids don't know if do or not but 90 percent of your worries are there and when i think about this world that they are now apart it scares me alot.To have one less thing to worry about, and i mean its a big worry.Lets face it aids, and cancer are a terrible treat to humanity.Do away with it,well,i vote for yes.as far as the cost well even if the price were high eventually the cost would go down or drug companies would come-up with generic brands.A cure,A cure well is there any question

Some diseases come to people as a result of lack of personal responsibility. If you insist on having unprotected sex even though you know you might contract H.I.V., I don't see how you can cure this disease with people willingly spreading it around. If a cure for this were available, I believe the number of infections would skyrocket. People would say, "oh well, I'll just go get a shot, no big deal". The number of unwanted pregnancies would skyrocket along with all other forms of S.T.D.s.
