I just married my fiancee from England, we needed an additional sponser to get him over here because I don't make enough money. Our daughter was concieved before he came over on his fiancee visa and has recieved Medicaid benefits. I'm unsure as to whether our joint sponser will be responsible for paying any future Medicaid benefits she might recieve. Am not sure whether I have to cancel her Medicaid now that her father and I have married.

(First off, I would like to apologize for the jerky answers from ignorant people who do not know the difference between legal immigration and illegal. Sheesh.)

You are a US Citizen, correct? The petition for immigration requires an affidavit of support for your husband, the alien. The affidavit of support was not for you, the US citizen, so the co-sponsor is not responsible for your support. The co-sponsor did not sign on to support your daughter, another US citizen.

I think the co=sponsor should be in the clear. But as CLK points out, there may be fraud issues if you don't report your husband's earnings.

Depends on your state. If your child was born before you were married, you may have to pay back pregnancy and confinement costs--up to a maximum limit. But all other medical expenses were paid for by the rest of us.

Now that you're married you need to report your marriage to your support worker who will determine if you're still income eligible to receive benefits. If your over income you may have to repay costs from the date of marriage or you could face fraud charges if the state finds out.

No. But sometimes there is what they call a Spend Down Program that the responsible party (usually the parent) is responsible for.

Many get around that-from all over

The person above me Clk is correct!

If your an American citizen, then your child can be on medicaid. You and the child can receive food stamp benefits. They will put him on your case but will not be able to receive any of the benefits.

Nope. It's free. Those of us who pay TAXES end up paying for it. That's why I'm 100% AGAINST illegals having ANY rights at all.

I would think if the baby is an american citizen (born here) then it would not be an issue.
