It's always been an issue with me. I'm a fourth generation Hispanic and I've always had people assuming that I'm illegal because my people came from Mexico. It's an issue because number one I don't think that it's right, I think that all laws should be followed. Number two, debates like these stir up all sorts of hate towards all people of latino orgin. You're treated as if you've done something wrong when all your trying to do is get along the best way you can. I'm from a very small town and trust me we had enough racism to deal before all of this started up again.I'm not against people coming here legally, my own husband is from England. But we are going through all the red tape (and theres loads of it and loads of money we've had to pay out also)to follow the law and it's frustrating to see others abuse the system.

Well, I guess I've always been anti-illegal everything. But finally realized how big the problem was when I started working in the 'welfare' department of my county. There are soooo many needy Americans......and America already doles out millions in aid to foreign countries. (I know those corrupt governments don't get the aid to the people....) But! When there are so many Americans who need assistance and our resources are being depleated by people blantantly violating our laws and DEMANDING they be given the same "priveleges" of a citizen that is when I took issue!

It became an issue when my father moved the family to Los Angeles Ca. I was in school and all the "mexican" children would fight with me because I wasnt "One of them".
The "white" children would fight with me because they thought I was "One of them". I was neither, so I had to fight almost every day, alone.
I learned about discrimination and hatred while still a young child, those lessons never left me, They helped to form my perception of the world & the people in it. Took me a long time to learn to trust people of any color or race except my own family. That has been quite a long time ago. I still have deep seated trust issues.

We found out that one of my dad's co-workers is an illegal immigrant (while he and his daughters learned English, his wife refuses to do so).

When I was still in 6th grade, there was that illegal immigration protest, and more than half of my class was gone.
