I'm hungry and want to eat. Can I throw it on the grill fozen, or can the microwave get the meat to a point where it is grillable in a reasonable amount of time? Or should I just eat out an save the thing for when I can thaw it properly?

I would put in in the microwave on defrost. I know my microwaves has a setting to defrost according to weight. Check to see if yours has the same and it'll defrost in no time.

Thaw it PARTIALLY in the microwave on about 30% power. Then slice it about 1/4" thick on the diagonal, against the grain. Forget the grill - just mix up some Tex-Mex seasonings and toss with the slices. Heat up a frying pan (cast iron if you have one) and add a little oil. Stir fry the steak slices for just a couple of minutes. Don't overfill the pan - do it in several batches if necessary. Run a knife through the slices until they're in small pieces, then set aside in a bowl. Throw some sliced onions and green or red peppers in the pan. Cook for several minutes until they're soft and have a few dark spots. Throw the meat and juices back in, add a chopped tomato (or some canned diced tomatoes, drained), and stir until heated through. Serve with shredded cheese and sour cream in soft tortillas. (Spread some sour cream in the center of the tortilla first, then sprinkle on the cheese, then put the hot mixture. This way the sour cream is evenly distributed with less mess, and the cheese melts.)

The steak will slice easier if it's still partially frozen, but it will thaw faster (and cook faster) in small pieces. It's easier to eat if the pieces are even smaller, but if you cut them tiny first and then cook them, they get dried out and tough.

There should be a defrost settign on your microwave. A few times I've let frozen meat thaw in warm water, but I don't really recommend that.

Happy grilling!

Put the steak in a bowl and cover it with water. Stick it in the microwave for 12 minutes (maybe more, I do this with chicken).

The water will prevent the steak from cooking.

You can microwave it until it is pliable enough to cook.
