They can not.

what they will do it utter some bullsh*t about how it's a word of God, and you should have faith, and they'll pray for you etc...

Really though, the bible was written by men to control their wives and control society.

Would it make a difference if we could prove it? Probably not so why ask a question like that if you don't care. For 2000 years people have been reading and following the Bible, can they all be wrong? I think not. Proving it is something that you have to find out for yourself. Take a chance, get a bible and get into a bible study group and go in with an open mind and see what you will find out. Give yourself a year of study, then ask that question again.

The laws of physics tell us that one can't walk on water and sticks don't turn in to snakes. These same laws also tell us that the universe cannot possibly have been created in 6 days.

"Yes, everything in my life has to be proven to me."

Then that means the Bible has to be proven true to you before it must be proven false.

I think the phrase "inspired by actual events" is more accurate. There are most likely a lot of historically accurate references in the bible, but the message has been twisted by people who have a need to control others (for their own good, of course).
As for the divine inspiration argument, I could say that god told me to write this answer on Yahoo!Answers, but that doesn't make it absolute truth. According to some christian cabals, all authors get their inspiration from divine sources (Muse), so you might as well follow the tenets laid down in 'Starship Troopers'.

Yes. Get the book "The Bible, God's Word or Man's?" published by Jehovah's Witnesses. It goes into great detail outlining how we know God authored the Bible and used men to write it. It discuses science, archaeology, prophecy, etc. I found it very interesting.

Its a little fiction, its a little history, and its fact and its spiritual in depth. You don't need anyone to prove this to you, you will get what you want out of it, no matter what I say or anyone else says. The truth never has to justify itself, cause it is in itself the proof of its demonstration and worth through those that avail themselves of it.

The only proof that is offered is that so many of the Old Testament prophecies were fulfilled.

The signs are all there.

While scholars can see the beauty and perfection of the literature itself, that is not enough.

If you believe in God then you will believe he has provided you Scriptures so that you may know the truth.
