I'm trying to gain weight, but i'm trying to do it the HEALTHY way. I want to gain weight evenly all over my body, not just in my stomach. First of all, does anyone have any tips on how to do that? I have a trainer so I'm also trying to gain weight in muscle as well. I don't do any cardio though really. So I was wondering, If I eat "healthy fats" like peanut butter (4-6 tbsp. a day), will the fat all go to my stomach? It's organic peanut butter, by the way. Well, I'll take any advice I can get....

Oh, one more question...all these calories im taking in are causing me to become constipated and bloated...does anyone have any tips for that? I'm currently drinking prune juice, eating oranges and pears, taking magnesium and a stool softener. and the bloating is HORRIBLE...any cures for that?

as long as you are very active and have a regular excercise routine, nothing that you eat, healthy or nonhealthy fats will go to your stomach. saying this, it is good for your health to avoid un healthy fats or "trans fats". these include anything from the convenience store, fast food restaurant or snack isle. however, when used in moderation, and a regular exercise routine is in motion, trans fats will not hurt you or put weight in unwanted areas. it is ok to treat yourself once in a while.
your body does require fats in order to convert them into calories, ie energy. the best ones are peanut butter, organic or unsweetened is the way to go. avacadoes, fish, meat, poultry, dairy are also full of fats. try bbqing your meats instead of frying, or put them in soups, or bake them. olive oil is best for frying or grilling and is also a healthy fat. remember. they are only healthy if they are used in moderation.
i have found that the best way to gain weight is to eat, eat, eat, eat, and eat some more. all the while excercising vigorously. running, court sports, weights, swimming, team sports, whatever. stay active. your body will begin to get bigger as it gets stronger. and the more you keep active, the more the weight will stay away from unwanted areas.
foods high in protein will help put on muscle pounds fast. as will whey shakes after a work out.
try drinking lots and lots of water, eating grapes or blueberries, or having a cup of coffee in the mornig to stay regular.

That is easy! Go to: www.mypyramid.gov You can get meal plans for a 1,600 or 2,000 KC/ a day diet, and the meal plans will be healthy. If you couple this with strength training you will be all set! Also, bear in mind that right now, you are building the bones that you will need for the rest of your life. White and Asian women that are small framed and low-weight are at special risk for osteoperosis. This may seem a far off concern, but in when you are 70 and break a hip you will regret not having laid the foundation of health. Another concern is if you are under weight, and then if you have to go to the hospital your body will not have the energy stores to fight off infection and get through a medical crises. What you are doing is very important and if you are successful will result in better health now and for the rest of your life. Good Luck!

The bloating might be a mild food allergy. You need to cut out some foods and see what makes it better or worse. You need to make sure you get enought fiber and it needs to be insoluable fiber. That wil help with the constipation.

As for healthy fat vs unhealthy fat....they have the same calories so you gain weight the same with either. Unfortunately you don;t get to pick where fat get;s stored on your body. It's genetic.

The best way to gain muscle weight is to weight train and eat a ton of protein. You should do a 45 min. full body weight training workout three times a week, and consume one gram of protein for every pound you weigh, every day. To reach this goal, supplement your protein intake with whey protein shakes. Make sure, with NO exceptions, you drink a whey protein shake after every workout that is when your muscles need it the most.

As far a health fats making you gain weight, too much of anything will make you gain weight. One of the best things about "Healthy Fats" (mono and poly unsaturated fats) is that they lower cholesterol and even better help you burn fat. Extra virgin olive oil is the best fat you can consume. Substitute olive oil for any other oil for cooking and canola oil for baking.

Despite what other posters have said, as long as it is natural peanut butter (no Skippy), peanut butter is very good for you, it does contain saturated fats; however, it is also loaded with mono and poly unsaturated fats. But limit you daily intake to about 2-3 tablespoons a day.

Milk if full of protein and calcium, so increase the amount of low-fat and/or skim milk you consume a day, drink at least three 8 oz. glasses of milk per day.

As far as constipation is concerned, eat a bowl of oatmeal every morning; and, as one of the other posters has said, drink a cup of coffee when you wake up.

If you do this, you'll be as right as rain.

Increasing your overall daily fiber intake will also help with your "plumbing" problem. Try adding a 1/2 cup of berries a day. Any of them will do; but, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries are the best. If buying fresh berries gets to be too expensive buy frozen one instead. They are much cheaper. Plus you can mix them with a glass of milk and a scoop of whey protein powder in a blender and make your own smoothies and kill three birds with one stone! Just make sure you buy frozen berries with no sugar added, check the ingredients list.

Healthy fats have the same number of calories as bad fats, they just do not raise cholesterol and triglycerides as much, so there is not as much of a threat that they will cause cardiac problems.

For the constipation and bloating, increase your fiber and be sure to drink plenty of non-dairy liquids.

Peanut butter is not a healthy fat. It is high in saturated fat. Healthy fats are low in saturaed fat, and low in "trans fat."Monounsaturated" fats are the best.

Yes, "healthy fats" make you gain weight, so to me they are NOT healthy.

Sounds like you are doing all the right things for bloating EXCEPT moving your body. I sugest walking daily. Even if you're trying to gain weight, you should continue to walk every day.

yes. everything makes you gain weight. no matter how healthy it is, you will still gain weight if you eat more calories than you burn.
