orville and wilbur wright were from ohio, and conceived the idea for the plane in their bicycle shop there.they first flew the plane @kitty hawk,as the dunes and winds there seemed conducive to sucessful liftoff-and they were right.

RE:
Why do Ohio license plates say "The Birthplace of Aviation?"?
Isn't Kitty Hawk in North Carolina, the place where the Wright Brothers made their first flight in 1903?

yes, BUT the Wright brothers were from Ohio. Kitty Hawk is the location they used to make the flight. There has been quite a debate between the 2 states lately as to who claims ownership of the phrase "first in flight" and "birthplace of aviation".

I am from North Carolina and ours say "First in Flight" because Wilbur and Orville Wright came to North Carolina's beach to fly their plane; however, they are from Ohio so Ohio claims the birthplace of the Wright brothers while North Carolina claims the flying part.

No, Kitty Hawk is the place they choose to do their first trials on flight. But the plane was built at their shop, in Dayton, Ohio.

The first flight took place at Kill Devil Hills, not Kitty Hawk. Wilbur and Orville were from Dayton though, that much is correct.
