I´m saying that there cannot be two weights and two measures. If you faithful deny the correctness of science, you should live pure, and deny also its most successful expressions. If you take advantage of science to undermine it in other fields, it´s like biting the hand that´s feeding you. After all, science works along the same concepts whether about astronomy, medicine or physics. If you want to go for the god BS, you should live away from ANYTHING that has originated in science if you want to be true. Central heating, air conditioning, medicine, vehicles and electronics, even these computers on which you ramble all the time. Otherwise, you´re just a bunch of hypocritical opportunists

Craina C: That´s exactly what I´m talking about... Now Gooooooooood put the little seed in the scientists mind to find the cures for ailments. Please tell your useless god that cancer and aids cures are late in coming and that I suggest some other way of revelation

And Will: Because I live 400 years later and have a perspective that Galileo couldn´t have had. It´s not a question of intelligence. Galileo would possibly have said the same had he live in the 20th-21st century

OOOoooo I love it when people agree with me!

You want to impede scientific progress...............then do without our advancements!

You want to teach religion in the school your kid goes to............home school.

You want to live in a theocracy and pass laws based on religious beliefs .......................... go live in Iran.

Believe what you will about God but DO NOT push your beliefs off on everyone else.

Edit: This is not to say that religion does not have it's place in society. They keep us debating on the ethics of science which is a good thing. We need both extremes to find the middle ground.

That is an incorrect representation of both religion and Science for one simple fact, they are two differently based systems. But, one thing that neither Science nor Religion can do is Prove the existence or the non-existence of God.

Science is based in the Physical only, it can not do any experimentation of that which is non-physical, thus can not prove or disprove religion, or namely the existence of God.

Religion is a Faith based system. with faith meaning: firm belief in something for which there is no proof

neither one cancels the other one out, they work hand in hand.

Like I said in the answer to your last question, It would be wiser to do some research on the subject you wish to criticize, or else you become a victim of proclaiming yourself as ignorant (see definition of Ignorant below)
destitute of knowledge or education ; also : lacking knowledge or comprehension of the thing specified b : resulting from or showing lack of knowledge or intelligence

So who has become the hypocritical opportunist you refer to? Sad to say that would have to be you as described by the example in which you have presented your case.

I am interested why God and science are mutually exclusive. Science is not out to disprove God and God is not out to disprove science. In my world the two work fully in concert. You can get caught up in many arguments but the full truth is that neither Religion (God) or Science will ever be able to fully uphold or discount the other. Science requires methodology and proof to continue to develop the areas of benefit to man.

Religion specifically requires that proof is not available. Man has free-will in the world. He has the choice of believing or disbelieving. Without free-will we would all be little automatons spounting the same lines. This individualism is what makes us human. It also produces differences in our abilities, judgement, knowledge, skills, etc.

Without the ability to have free-will then the idea of belief is moot because we are created exactly alike. God didn't want us this way, so he provided a way for us to come to him or to reject him.
Just as I have made the choice to believe and you have made the choice to reject. These choices are the result of our differences. Science will never be able to explain or quantify these differences because they are impossible to measure.

I don't believe that anyone has ever doubted the correctness of science. However there are different interpretations of correctness. Just as I have no proof of the existence of God and require belief in a supreme being; you have no proof that you are correct in your science and require acceptance of a context without a full understanding of the timeline.

That is stupid. Is all science wrong? No. Is science perfect? No. So, just because you don't believe in some of it, doesn't mean you toss out all of it. Basically, you are saying to throw the baby out with the bath water, and that a retarded thing to say. You said, "its like biting the hand that feeds you". This is stupid. Science doesn't feed me or anyone else. Science has discovered many things but there are still more things out there that they have no idea about. I appreciate science, medicine, and what not, but that doesn't make them infallible. Science does make mistakes all the time. Pluto was a planet a month ago, now it isn't. Science made a mistake. And science will continue to make errors because they are just people, just like everyone else. So get over yourself, science maybe your god, but it ain't mine. Using your stupid logic, go marry your microwave and move into your computer dummy.

Are you talking about the conflict between creation and evolution? If so, evolution, to my way of thinking, has never been proved. The so called "missing link" has never been found because it does not exist.

God gave people the ability to think critically and to learn. Some people have been blessed by God with an aptitude for science. I don't know why you consider faith and science to be mutually exclusive. And why you think that anything pertaining to God is BS.

Personally, I thank God for the advances in modern medicine. However, I think that there are people who take it too far, just as with anything. Cloning. Killing human embryos for their stem cells. Nothing in this world is perfect. Scientists make mistakes. Christians make mistakes. We don't have to accept all the things that science creates. Just as we don't have to accept some man-made religious rules. When I wonder about some of the rules from the Catholic church I search the Bible to see if it has any foundation there.

I feel very sorry for you. You sound bitter and cynical.

What a crock of bull pucky. There are always more than two weights and many different measures.
Come on tell me how many atoms are in a cubic centimeter or how many gallons in a star.Science started with God where it goes is the only contention.
Arrogant buffoon.

I can thank God every day that He has made us different and has given us the free will to observe and form our own opinions (not just my opinion, but your opinion also). He gave us incentive to develop our talents (those He gave us) and rewards us when we do well. As a good parent He wishes us well and helps us when we need a little extra. He gives us all we need and more (in abundance).

Luckily for me, Paganism works hand-in-hand with Science...

... so, yeah. I can hug trees while listening to my CD player. ^_^ Yay.

Just in case, the hugging trees thing isn't meant as a diss or stereotype for Paganism. I just really love trees a lot.

If someone disagrees with one scientific theory, they should take advantage of none of it, (including, I'm assuming, any knowledge of the subject itself, or any subject related to it) and regress back to the level of our "caveman" ancestors. Is that about what you're saying? Well, Gee, what a great idea.

It's good for religios nuts to have science even if they oly take the parts they like.

One day they'll appreciate what science has created and they may even question their faith. Be reborn so to speak. That would be worth dealing with them in the mean time
