For people who believe in a 'God' or Divine source, they will all experience 'God' differently. Including different names, sexes etc.
Their perception of the Divine will differ as well. Neither is right or wrong, for we can not all have the same relationship with the Divine as the next person. To say that another person should experience God a certain way is judgemental & saying that your way is the 'right' way.
It is unfortunate that many 'religious' people feel that their way is the only way to believe in & experience God. Which really limits God to some elses perceptions.
To experience a 'Divine Source' should be individual & different for each person. This includes all religions & paths.
Paul even said that the Pagans in Athens were worshipping the same God. READ:
"Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, `Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, The One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you" (Acts 17:22-23)

,those main stream Religions are just that. Stiffed Necked. All religions have one God . no matter who they worship or what they call God. as Long as the Spirit of Love and Truth are the main Characteristics. The Problem most have is in how to Communicate with God. I personally was reconciled to God for a personal relationship through My Lord and Savior Jesus, and I do not know any other way.

the clinical answer to your question is that chemicaly speaking all people experience religion as a release of chemicals in a certain part of the brain. Doctors have done MRI scans on Monks and Nuns and priests and whatnot of all different religions and have found that the same part of the brain is active during a "religious experience" this holds true for all different religions.

God is an illusion people create in their own minds to make themselves happier by believing everything is out of their control, and therefore needn't experience guilt or fear. Hope and heaven make us feel comfortable about our futures, prayer makes us feel less lonely, angels make us feel more secure, etc. etc. Rather than depending on religion, try handling reality from a rational, objective approach.

personally i feel that we each have our own idea of what/who God is
because we are all individuals with our own different thoughts
but i do believe that God is God .. despite what name you use .. despite what your perception is
through the ages of seperation .. different cultural upbringing .. different languages ..
God has became different from one person to the next
but i dont feel it matters what name we use ... what we think God looks like
what matters is living a good life to the best of our ability , in whatever way our society and religion sets for us

I believe throughout history we all experience God the same ways; through prayer, church (or primitive version of it) and Scripture. Or we only experience his natural revelation through nature. A select few throughout history, God has revealed himself in miraculous ways!
The various world religions do have little in common. I can tell you this though; Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all identify the same God as theirs. (The God of Abraham) Though they have drastically different views about him.

Such complex and subjective ideas as 'God' are mediated through cultural archetypes which shape the nature of the spiritual experience.

Not at all. The Truth is large enough to be experienced as many ways as there have been, are or will be people in the world.
