Back in time? Highly doubtful. But forward in time is definitely possible according to relativity. As an object travels faster and faster, time goes slower and slower for that object from a stationary point of view. This is known fact comfirmed by a number of experiments. From the moving objects point of view time is traveling faster for the nonmoving object.
So if you wanted to travel into the future, you would need a vehicle or spaceship that travels many magnitudes faster than anything we have today. To be very effective it would need to approach the speed of light. But even at less than half of the speed of light you could still get to the point where 1 year that passes for you equated to 10 years on earth. So when you stopped traveling and came back to earth, 10 years on earth would have passed since you left, but you have only aged one year. However, you would never be able to go back so if you want on a trip for 10 years as 100 earth years passed, everyone you knew would be either dead or extremely old and your knowledge of the world would be 100 years outdated. Needless to say a very depressing scenario for the person doing the travelling.

It actually depends on what you mean by "time machine." If you are thinking of a machine that travels back and forth through time like Back to the Future, than no. There may be other possibilities but you will be running into the little theory called General Relativity which will kind of limit what you could theoretically do if you did build such a machine.

I believe it's already been done..check out the book "the Philadelphia experiment". In the book he goes into detail how it was done and even shows diagrams of the machines. My brother gave me this book so I started reading it thinking this has to be all made up, but it is a fantastic story. The first part of the book is about the ship that was made invisible but the rest of the book tells about how they were able to take trips back into time.

Nope, just taking psychedelic drugs and you can go anywhere. The hitch is you might not get back or when you do won't have a clue where the hell you have been. Sleep might be a little safer and you get the same effect as time travel and some rest.

With the present technology, it is impossible even to go out of our solar system. All our space shuttles and rockets can carry humans only to near earth planets. All your computers, electronics etc may help you to do calculations quickly, but it is yet to evolve to take human in journey through space (but not through time!).

I beleive it could be possible to SEE things that happened before, but not experiance things that happened before.
The light we see from stars is already in some cases thousands of years old, so are we not seeing the past?
The future has not occured yet so I do not see anyway possible to go there.

Of course, its already been done in the future. People from the future have already come into the past. Where do you think all this magical technology comes from? It comes from the people of the future.

oddly enough i just read a short article by Stephen Hawking where he says he believes time travel is actually possible by utilizing a process of 'folding space'. it would be a way to travel faster than light, but would also cause 'time travel' as a byproduct. interesting. who knows.

Time travel will NEVER NEVER NEVER be possible by human means. That is something out of our power and knowledge.
Mankind cannot even cure AIDS and you want to time travel? Get real.
