When I'm outside, I feel like every car that goes by is going to be a drive by shooting. When I see a man outside in my apartment complex, I think he's going to watch to see where I live and come rape me. When I drive, every car that moves over a lane (even with a blinker) makes me think I'm about to be in a life threatening wreck. Should I see a counselor? This has only started in the last couple of months. Please no mean answers.

Don't go to the doc untill you try this solution:
1.You must sit alone at a friendly, peaceful place and sincerely talk to yourself.
2.Ask yourself deeply:What are the reasons for you to feel such a fear? What might have caused that?
3.Make a real confession to yourself about your wishes and unscored goals in your life.A frustration( the feeling that we didn't get what we wanted) may often cause the dis-balance of body energies, and what I call "self-quarrel".
4.After such a deep confession to yourself, try to give-your-self-a-hand again;to love and understand your inner self truly and unconditionally...
5.You'll see the change: everything will come in its place again!

In a way, you've been conditioned to respond as you have described. You need to see a counselor, and you need to be patient. Your fears are perfectly valid, especially if you watch the news on tv, ro read newspapers and magazines. I wish you well.

There's so much of what you're describing on TV, and in the movies, it's hard not to be more aware of your surroundings. You seem to be overly obsessed with fear though. If I were you, I'd seek help with a good therapist. There's nothing wrong with getting help. I wish you well !!!! ~~~~

first are you watching tv ....bad cop shows..negative movies? reading the paper? all this affects how we see the world. on any meds or drinking to much coffee? any and all can induce fear where there is no need for. do you live in a bad neighborhood? do talk to someone about your fears so that you can see what is real and not. talking outloud to someone does lessen the fear

You are hypervigilent. Maybe you have extreme anxiety/fear. You should definitely get treatment or this could worsen. I'm not sure why you feel this way, was it related to a loss or something in your life?

You should be aware of your surroundings so that you can identify potential threats ahead of time. That way you can hopefully avoid the threat or deal with it effectively. But your situation sounds excessive. You should see your doctor.

yes , it sounds like you have some paranoia issues, you better get yourself to a therapist soon because if this keeps up you'll be edging into agrophobia and you won't leave the house due to the paranoia and anxiety.. Good Luck to you.
