Did you look into other religions, study for yourself?

Of course, I looked into other religions. I've been interested in theology since childhood, and have very actively explored religions of all sorts.

On the other hand, I have a relative who is in an extremely repressive, closed-off sect just because she was raised that way, and has never once in her life questioned it. Her father told her that the religion is true, and now, even as an elderly person, she still believes that everything Daddy told her was absolutely right. "The pastor says so" is her answer for everything. I don't think I could live like that, but it's her right to avoid questioning.

I'm not! Raised Roman Catholic. Then into yoga, spent some time in India, serious study there of advaita vedanta philosophy, including plenty of sanskrit, also read and studied briefly sikhism, then seriously studied and practised Buddhism in both theravada & mahayana traditions. Deep and serious study and practise into Catholicism, especially the mystics. Advanced Biblical studies. Looked into evangelical christianity briefly, lastly did deep and long study of judaism, finally some islam (just to get aquainted).

Now I understand them all, know what makes them tick. So finally I'm free from them all at last!

I was raised as a Methodist, but over the past decade or more have become disillusioned with their becoming more and more liberal. It's becoming a "feel good" group, more interested in making people happy than speaking from the Biblical truths.I'm more Evangelical with Pentecostal leanings these days. They are all part of the Protestant genre, but with major differences in their beliefs within that genre.

I am very active in the religion I grew up in. I really never considered changing religions, but we are taught to study and learn for ourselves from a very young age. I believe that you can study and decide what religion is correct, without considering other religions. I have always been very happy with my religion and have always believed that it is the correct and true church of Jesus Christ. I have never really doubted that.

I was given a choice when I was old enough to make a proper decision. I wasn't raised to believe anything I didn't want to. And so now I'm an atheist. :D

A famous fictional character once said,"after gathering the facts and removing the impossible, what remains, however improbable. must be the truth." Therefore, I did just that, ALL RELIGIONS ARE WRONG AND ONLY CHRIST IS RIGHT!!!!!!
Men created religions, Christ created life.

Not me. Former Lutheran, current Agnostic. As soon I started learning about "other" religions, I started to see the parallels between them and realized religion is more a function of man's desire for answers than anything else. I also found for satisfactory answers in science and decided to focus my attention there. I lost my appreciation for God, but I gained appreciation for astrophysics.
