You might just be retaining a lot of water weight. Drink 10, eight oz glasses of water a day for several days and then weigh yourself. You'd be amazed at how much water you can retain! Your clothes will not feel as tight either. I'll bet you're retaining water and not actually putting on fat.

A good general rule is that it takes as long to lose the weight as it did to put it on. It is possible to lose 5 pounds in a week, but you generally shouldn't lose more than 1-2 pounds a week to have the best chance of keeping it off.
Did you recently become a lot more sedentary? If so, try and be a little more active. A great way to stay in shape in high school is to join a sport.
If you're still in high school, you might still be growing, and your body may just be gearing up to get a little bit taller. Keep an eye on your weight, but don't freak out about every 5 lbs.

It may be just water weight. Cut out some of the salty foods and drink lots of water. If you eat any sort of fatty sweets you should cut back. No need to cut them out altogether but maybe half them. Also try to eat 5 or 6 small fist sized meals through the day rather than 2 or 3 large meals.

Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic index and load. It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way we have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.
Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad carbs and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Links page has gov. BMI calculater to find out just how much overweight you are (teens plug in your age to compare to others your age). Get latest info like American Heart Association does not want you to eat more than 6 ounces daily of meat, fish or poultry. Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

If all you want is to remove a few and keep them off, you should look at what you have been eating and compare it to what you should have been eating,
(cut is not remove it is to eat less)
such as cut the amount of fried foods, including potato chips, and most fast foods. and if you need snacks just look to the healthier snack you like and try some fruits.
remember if you eat too little you body will go in to a panic and will keep all it has. and eating breakfast boost your metabolism to use and burn what you eat better.

ask yourself if you've been doing something different lately... have you been consuming alchol? if yes, that's probably your weight gain... fast food? not moving around much?
try drinking a lot of water and make sure that you get some exercise.
