The first thing I notice in a guy I never met or spoken to, is if he acts like a sleazy dater trying to score anything that moves or if he just acts normally as a human being would in a social ambient. If he acts like he is in a "have to grab something tonight" mission, no need to say most women won't even give him a second look.

Be yourself - if it is meant for a woman to notice you as you - then she will. Eye contact and smiles are wonderful...pleasant conversation is always a good start as well!
