Brent ~
In my opinion, I'm going to have to go with Gomez. Most of Elorde's fights in the Philippines against limited opposition, his record was 88 - 27 - 2 with 33 kayos but against who. Elorde did hold the title for a long time but look at the fighters he was retaining his tilte against, hardly household names.
The great Julio Cesar Chavez said "Wilfredo fights more like a Mexican than most Mexicans" after he beat Julio's stablemate Jose Luis Soto. He fought Lupe Pintor, Juan Laporte and Rocky Lockridge, beating them all although in my opinion Lockridge should have got the nod, it was a very close fight. Wilfredo lost against the great Salvador Sanchez, Wilfredo said "it was because I underestimated him and I didn't train properly" in my opinion, he could have trained until his hair grayed and he never would have beaten Sanchez.
All around Gomez fought the better competition and would win a 15 round unanimous decision. Thanks Brent.

This would be a very exciting fight Brent F between two great fighters. Flash Elorde is regaded as the greatest fighter to ever come out of the Phillipines vs the great Puerto Rican fighter Wilfredo Gomez. I believe that Gomez with his great punching power would win this thrilling contest in 12 rounds by TKO over the great Elorde.

Eldore - Super Feather wt = Jr Light wt = 130 lbs
W 87 (KO's 33) TF 116 - W pct 86% - KO pct 28% - wins over Saddler - KO'ed by Ortiz{2} - #78 ranked fighter
His win total was padded by fighting so many bouts in the Philippines and against suspect opposition. How many name/good fighters did he go against?

Gomez - W 44 (KO's 42) TF 48 - W pct 92% - KO pct 88% - wins over Cervantes, Zarate, Pintor, LaPorte and Cruz - KO'ed by Sanchez, Nelson and A. Layne - #13 ranked puncher - #54 ranked fighter
All his losses occurred when he tried to move up in weight.

I don't think Eldore could withstand Gomez's power. Gomez by a TKO some where between rd 10 and 13.
