Wow, these other people are misinformed. Firstly, all catholics are christian, whatever others lead you to believe. Secondly, in order to become a practicing Christian, you must begin by attending a church. It doesn't really matter which denomination, as long as you feel comfortable and believe what they do. Generally, once you've been there a while, you'll learn about the different programs they have and you'll find out how to become a member. Different denominations do this different ways. Usually it involves accepting Christ and being baptized. In the Catholic church, you would go through the RCIA program and learn about Christ's teachings, the church itself, and why they do the crazy things they do. You would also receive the various sacraments at an accelerated rate from someone who grew up in the church.
Hope that helps, and thanks for being willing to allow Christ into your life.

Don't listen to all of the ignorant people who have answered. Welcome to the Christian family! Being a Christian is great. You always have someone watching over you. God is a great and just God. As far as choosing the type of Christian you want to be, try going to both churches to test the waters. Both are very different. I am Protestant, but am familiar with both. Catholic churches are more traditional, lighting candles, sort of place. Protestant churches are more about singing and reading the Bible. It just depends more on what you are into. Your best bet is to check out both and see which one fits you better.

All humans have a spiritual need, even though they might deny it till their dying breath. I recommend thoroughly researching these religions, their history from the time of Jesus forward to today. That would give you a good basis for coming to an INFORMED conclusion. Take your time. Do your homework! Don't just be carried away by what others think, or others do. This is YOUR life here, not theirs, and this is a serious thing to contemplate, but have some fun too! Some of the world's beliefs are down right ridiculous!!

If you want to become a christian then Romans 10: 9 to 13

You could contact the church to get information on each of your choices to make up your mind. They will come and Bible study with u. Go to each church talk with the pastor. He will make sure u get what u need. Don't get your feelings hurt when u find out a bout hypocrites. They go to church. I believe that Your body is the temple and pray your heart will let u know. I'm a preachers daughter. I found out about hypocrites at 11 years old. I was very disgusted. Every body sins though. u just for give them.My friend gave me earrings for my birthday the whole sermon was about my earrings not by my dad though. He explained it was wrong. I had to change church until the hypocrite moved on. some people are just miserable.

Here is my opinion. Ask yourself why you want to become a Christian. Do you understand that you are a sinner, that you have done things in your life which are wrong? Do you understand that those things require a price? Do you understand that the price of those things is death? If you understand these things, then you have come to the crossroads, and God bless you.
Now, assuming that you understand the above, you are seeking for forgiveness. It is available to you from God, and He wants to give it to you. All you have to do is pray to Him. You can do this outloud, or you can do it in your head, just like you talk to yourself. God knows your thoughts, and you can talk to Him like that. This is prayer. You pray, or talk, to God and tell him that you know you are a sinner, that you understand that sin means death and death means hell (I forgot to mention that above). You ask God to forgive you in the name of Jesus Christ, who died so that all may be saved.
If you do this with sincerity of heart, you are a Christian. You don't have to go anywhere to do this; you can do it right now, right where you are. You need not attend any ceremony or church service to be a Christian.
As a young Christian (meaning new, no matter how old you are), you will need the support and fellowship of other Chrisitans. Talk to others you know who are Christians and ask them what church they go to, what it is like, and see if you think you would like it to. Find one and go to it. If you don't like it, look for another. If you have friends who go to church based activities outside of church services, go to some of those. Find an environment that you are comfortable with and that feeds the hunger that you will find inside of yourself, that in fact you feel even now because you are asking this question.
Also, get a Bible in a modern translation, like NIV (New International Version). Start reading it. I suggest starting in the New Testament. You don't have to read it in order, you can read one book, then another, then another. Revelation (the last book) will be hard to understand, but that is ok. Read it if you want, but don't be discouraged. Romans is a book that will answer a lot of your questions, but it will also create some questions for you.
Find someone in your life that you can ask questions of. This person needs to be a professing Christian and someone you trust. It may be a family member, a friend, a pastor or someone else. But you need someone in your life to support you and help you on your journey.
Most importantly, don't stop praying to God. After you pray to accept Jesus, you need to keep talking to God. He loves to hear from you, and He will answer your prayers. Sometimes it takes a long time, so don't give up! Keep talking to Him, telling Him what you are feeling and asking Him for answers.
Being a Christian is not easy. There will still be hard times in life, and it can be a challenge to understand why this all powerful God you believe in is not acting in a way that you can see. But keep believing, keep praying, and God will see your through.
Sorry this is long, but I hope it helps. I have prayed for you.

Well - have you accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior? Have you asked forgiveness of sins? That's a start.
Read your bible (Start with John, head down the Roman Road...) and pray.
Protestant is a huge umbrella word that covers more denominations than one would care to admit. Catholic is pretty much the same all around.
Ask your self, before you join any church - "What does the bible say about what they are saying...doing...."

Try the link below and read up about Christianity. Find a local church and start attending. I am a non-denominationall Christian and have found a wonderful church in San Antonio called Northwest Hills Christian Church. It is very non-judgemental and open.

Pray, your religion is about you and God. Pray, admitting that you are a sinner and realize that you need Jesus to be your savior and erase your sins away. Pray for His forgiveness and offer your life to Him, if your heart is truly believing that then at that very moment your sins are wiped away and you become a child of God, your name is scribed in the book of life, and you are going to go to Heaven. If you know anyone who is a true Christian ask them for help and in finding a church. Church is not a required thing for Christians, but God gave it to us so that we would have others that would help support us in our beliefs:) I hope you join our family soon! good luck sister:)
