my mother is in a panic. she is mixing up a strawberry cake for my niece's birthday party and the batter is way too thin. is there anything, aside from flour, that can be used to thicken the batter? thanks

I looked it up...I got two different ideas other than flour...One recipe call for adding 1 tablespoon of cornstarch to the batter, and this should thicken it up...

Another recipe called for flavored muffin mix...I believe Jiffy does actually make a strawberry muffin mix...this sounded better to me...thought it would thicken without taking away from the flavor...

Flour is the only thing that makes sense to me. You might want to add a little baking powder as well to allow for the extra flour. I hope it all turns out well.
