You should first do a lot of research before buying your dog.

You have to ask yourself do want a dog that is active, or one that is more layed back. What size will be suitable for your house/apartment? One that is freindly or protective? So on and so forth.

The most important hing is that you do not wan to end up witha dog thatyou hate because a friend told you to get it or its name sounded cool.

Try local shelters and humane societies.

Since you seem open to suggestions, check out yr local SPCA or adoption center. They have many different kinds of dogs and I bet you can find one thats the size and personality just for you. There are so many. Nothing is cooler than rescuing a poor dog that someone else didnt want and keep from being killed.

It depends on what you want in a dog. I got a Labrador Retriever because I wanted a versatile dog. I love outdoor activities and the Labs are perfect to join in the fun. They love water so I taught my dog how to stay in the Kayak and he is a great swimming companion. Labs are known for their out going friendly personality so I can take him any where. They have a long long enough coat so he can go with me in the winter activities. It all depends on your lifestyle, and what you want.

I have a German Shepherd and it's the nicest and cutest dog I've ever owned. But not the right dog if you want a small, nonactive dog. Do you have room and time for a dog? Maybe go the your local SPCA (pet adoption) and talk to them and see if you can rescue a dog!!!

The easiest and best dog to train for an inside dog is a Lab. They learn so quickly and protect your home and children so well!!

That answer depends a lot on you. Not every kind of dog is perfect for every kind of person. You either need to give more info or do more research.

If you want a dog that is totally fun to have around, get a Golden Retriever. Or, if you want a truly beautiful dog, it's hard to beat a Siberian Husky...
