I install VOIP modems, you do not need a special phone, if you are using DSL, You will however need filters.
If you use a cablemodem, you dont need anything but an appointment with your local cable company if they offer that service.
We disconnect the main phone feed from SBC or whoever, coming into the home and tie into your netwotk interface device either outside or where ever it hits the house and a direct line to the modem feeds all phone jacks in the house.

yes, but you cant see it from the front of the phone...turn it around and look at the back of the phone...if you see regular phone pug-11 then its not for VoIP....
If you sign up for any provider you will get a base phone with build in router, and an extension phone....most sales ppl in the store dont even no whats it all about....so watch what u buy....I got a Uniden 1868P for (Packet8)
the Uniden 1868V is for vonage...the build in router is pre-programmed already, so Y would have to do nothing, but plug it in!

I think so. Our's is a GE 5.8 GHz, model: 28021ee2-A. It's a base unit cordless, and it came with an additional headset to put somewhere else in the house. They made a point of putting the word "Digital" on a lot of places on the phone, so I'm guessing that's important. We got our's free, I think, for signing up for Sunrocket service.
The back of my phone looks exactly like our other, normal, 2.4GHz phone. It looks like it's got the normal plug and the ac-adapter plug. I'm just mentioning it, since it seems relevant.

you purely choose for a particular modem in case you opt for for to hook up an antiquated telephone. in case you get a WiFi telephone or communicate on your computing gadget (i take advantage of a bluetooth ear piece so i'm no longer tied right down to my laptop with Skype), you do no longer choose for that "particular telephone gadget". i think of Skype and Vonage may well be the tremendous 2 for VoIP with an quite telephone huge form, although maximum community cable and DSL carriers additionally grant it. you could could desire to look up however if or no longer they help community 911 centers, although. Many 911 call centers are way way way at the back of the time. Many nonetheless don't have GPS help for cellular telephones, and that i'm not sure any can look up your handle by way of IP handle.
