...elegantly drape a decroative throw over a piece of furniture, say a sofa or an upholstered bench at the end of your bed? Every time I try to drape mine it ends up looking clunky and unprofessional. Any advice would be welcomed and appreciated!

What kind of material/fabric is the throw made of? If its a stiffer fabric, a tighter weave, it will lay clunky. A softer weave, or a knit would drape less clunky.

Also, look at it with length. Grab it about 1/3 of the way down, and take that and spread it across the bench and the rest fall a bit.

It probablly looks better than you think...

the picture in the link shows the idea of gathering at one end, and draping at another end. Try to apply that to your bench...

have fun decorating!

I lay it down as if I'd been carrying it crumpled in one hand over the back of the couch/chair or the arm, if it's high enough, and then sort of fan out the bottom on the seat, just slightly.

Sometimes, if I'm going for a more tailored or contemporary look, I fold the blanket nice and long and lay it over the middle of the back of the chair/couch or the arm and make sure it's not touching the seat and not touching the floor.

Kind of cinch it in the middle and fan out the ends. Christopher Lowell says to just fling it and forget it.

Don't get it looking too perfect, then it has a "staged" appearence.

The other thing you can do is fold it perfectly and go for the opposite effect where it looks very tailored and precise.

Good luck!

The best way for us to do it is to fan fold it to begin with, then with one end place it on the furniture piece you want it to go on.

You are probably being more critical of yourself. If you have a gay friend, maybe they can throw it for you. Throws and pillows seem to fall into place just right for them.

I lay it out flat on a diagonal then grab the top end scrunch and pull a couple inches then just drop the end and leave it.
