An excellent plan. There are also many plans in all the military services to assist you in starting your college courses WHILE you are still active duty. This also helps with promotion while active duty.

24, too old???? you're kidding right?

I am very impressed. Do you know how many teenagers have no plan and have not even thought about a plan? Do you know how many grown adults have never seen the need for a plan? You are going to go far because you've already done a most important thing toward meeting your goals -- writing them down! No, 24 isn't too old to be getting out of college. Lots of people have to work a while before they go or work and go to classes part-time, so they also finish around that age. The difference with you is that you will be so much more "employable" due to your military experience, too. Since you have a plan, keep working on it and updating it. Meet with a guidance counselor and be sure you're doing everything you need to do on schedule to make your dreams reality. Good luck!

The US military is an honorable choice. But, may I make a suggestion? Think about the Navy. I had never been out of my state when I enlisted. Over the next four years I was on both coasts, was homeported in Italy, went to the Octoberfest in Germany, and learned to say bathroom and beer in a dozen languages. I had an apartment in Naples, skied in the Alps, and spent weekends on the Rivera. Assuming you can qualify, there is just about any profession you can dream up that doesn't have a Navy equivilent, with quality shooling. It's not free, they pay you to do it. And, you travel. Young, single, and traveling the world. Sounds great, and it is interesting. But, it is what it is. Are you prepared to kill? Or die? I hated DOING my hitch, but the memories will last all my life. And, I still keep in touch with a few of the friends I made, thirty years ago.

24 isn't too old. It's probably the average age of a college graduate, if not older. Most people take longer than 4 years to get their degree. If you want to go into the air force, then do it. They will even help pay for your college. I have little to no knowledge on this but 2 years seems a short time commitment. I thought that all of the armed forces had longer commitments.

Sounds like a plan to me. Actually, I wish I had done something else before college, because I needed to grow up to get the most out of college. The military would be a good growing up experience. Also, you would have money from the military to help finance your college. Unless you know you are dying real soon, you have lots of time for the Air force. Assuming you live the average life span, you will have over 40 years after you graduate from college to do lots of things.

If you've got good grades you could get into an officer program.

Sounds like a good plan to me. By the way, while you're in the military, take college courses on your time off. They're paid for and you can get ahead.

24 is not old. I was 28 when I finished and I'm doing fine.

It's good that you have set goals for yourself. You have a plan and you know what direction you want to go in, that is great. I don't think that 24 years old is too old to be out of school at all. I'm 30 and considering going back.

that's a great plan. 24 is not too old to be getting your bachelor's. It better not be or I'm in trouble! It sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders and are looking towards the future that's more than most 18yr olds do.

I think you have to go into the service for 4 years, unless it's the reserves. Great that you have a plan! And actually, most colleges have all ages these days.

Go ahead and do what you planned. i know someone who went to college and is now in the Army. He is doing very well for himself. If you don't want to go into combat, go into mechanics or something like that. You will still go through all the usual training of a combat pilot, but like my friend, you will be working on the planes. Good luck, and God bless you!!
