Aren't Border Patrol officials FEDERAL OFFICERS? If you run from a Federal Officer when he says to "STOP" wouldn't YOU get shot or shot at? I hope they have that right. I would also hope they would not shoot a child or a pregnant woman. They would need to show some common sense. (They shouldn't HAVE to shoot a child or a pregnant woman, since they should be capable of apprehending them.)

I think it's more important to structure our borders so it's very difficult to get across them in the first place, and if anyone should happen to be aggressive or threaten our border patrolmen, then they should definitely have the right of self-defense. US Border Patrol has already been attacked in the past, it is not right to place them in harm's way and expect them not to have the means to protect themselves and be effective in their role of preventing illegal entry into the United States. We either 'mean it', or we don't, jet fighters and howitzers are probably 'over the top', but may be called for someday in the future. We live in 'interesting times', and in a world where Mexico's already proven itself a viable haven for those of violent intentions and means, it's difficult to discern exactly what kind of future lies ahead with us and our erstwhile cooperative and peaceful neighbor.

This is not East Berlin. And I know of no borders aside from the DMZ where anybody shoots people at the border. Machine gunning a woman & her kids for crossing the border is like, life in prison for jaywalking........

no, we aren't the communists and we're not the nazi's. not yet anyways.
It is sad that our border's integrity is so bad that we would consider that.
Think about this though. If a marine security guard at a US embassy in a foreign country tells someone to stop and they do not, they are authorized to use deadly force.(shoot to kill) Now that is sovereign US territory as well.

I am an American of mexican descent, with over 100 years of family history in Texas and the U.S. my loyalty's lie with my country, the U.S.A.i was not born in mexico, therefore i am not a mexican, but now a shoot to kill policy will be very effective, because mexicans won`t want to take the chance of dieing, there for they will not come but you will need to show a couple of hundred, examples to drive home the meaning, why do you think, they do not try to change their country, bullets, are very, effective,to change their country,100`s have died trying.

Unless it's considered a Terrorist Threat. Otherwise, shooting and killing anyone entering the US illegal or not is considered a crime to even the border patrol.

No, people coming into the US illegally is not that deep of an issue.
We need to be more concerned with HOW humanely they are treated however/wherever they come in.
