Absolutely. We all have to take care of our 'self' and that's what constitutes 'selfish'. Somehow this term has aquired a negatory light. I don't know why it would....it is simply the care one gives to one's self. So, if you rephrase the question into "Am I one being those who takes care of myself?" I would say ABSOLUTLY...as you should, you took no vow to this man for better or worse...when you are dating...it's for better or best.

Not sure if your being "selfish" or not. It's always wise to look carefully at a person's character and make changes accordingly. Is he still getting in trouble, or has he changed his ways and is now going to college because he really wants to move forward with his life?

Everyone deserves a second and even a third chance, but a fiftieth? Only you know when enough is enough. Follow your intuition.

What part of "it resulted in him getting arrested" doesn't slap you upside the head? If you have to keep the moron out of trouble all the time, you only love him as a friend, and have stated that you want to break up, why don't you BREAK UP ALREADY!!!!

If your not intrested in the relationship, and if you don't want to be his babysitter then I would say call it all off. Your right, it does get tireing. Just let him know you are proud of him getting into college and you know he'll do good. Let him know that your not feeling the same and you need time to yourself.

no your not being selfish, your just tired of the games, and your worrying about yourself, college and the future. You need to worry about you,and let him be in the past, with his stupidness and jail. You go for whats good for you.You will meet better men in college. Good luck in college, your doing the right thing keep it up .

Not at all wrong. You obviously have a looser there and you should move on. There's probably a man out there for you instead of the little boy you are with now.

I don't think that you are being selfish, he should not expect that from you. I don;t think that he will take it well though, but it's now or never.
