It doesn't matter how fast you type or how long it is before you answer a question. Just make sure you have accurate info for the person. I have had LOTS of best answers chosen, and have not always been the first person to answer.

No, but it seems that being more ignorant, arrogant, and obnoxious gets one's answers to higher positions in the list, doesn't it? ;)

I don't know -- maybe those people just get done typing faster because they spend less time thinking about what they are typing... sigh...

=== EDIT ===

Hey, I just figured out how to effectively accomplish getting on the list in the order that you clicked "Answer this question":

Simply click the button, type in something fast like "Answer coming", and submit it really fast. Then go back and edit in your real answer, like I have done here. You keep the same position in the list as the original entry had even though you change the answer. For "Best Answer" junkies this is just the ticket!

Thanks AbdulAziz, A_Delphic_Oracle, and Tantiemeg for making me think about that! I love figuring out how to jury-rig the system into working correctly... ;)

Well, you do have 3 days to answer each question. So, unless it takes you THAT long to type your answer, I don't think it makes a difference. That's of course, unless you think it's important to be the first one to answer OR if you think this is all about getting best answers. But why would you care about that?

Fast typing and a fast connection are both advantages. Unfortunately, I have very fast typing skills, but a VERY slow connection.........a maximum of 26.4 kbps. : (
But hey, we're supposed to be getting satellite internet service next week. : ) : )

Only for simple answers to questions that almost anyone can answer.
A well thought out answer to a complex question will usually be selected for best answer no matter what order it is in compared to others.

yes. sometimes I take the time to answer a question thuroughly and by the time I submit it someone had the same answer and then gets chosen as the best answer because they were first even if the answer wasn't as good and thoughtful as mine. i hope no one wrote that just now

It doesn't make any difference in this section (R&S). If you are trying to get best answers, the Atheist pick atheist answers, the Muslims pick Muslim answers, and Christians pick Christian answers, Jew's pick Jews. If you are playing for "points" (which I could care less about), your best bet is to stay within your religious sector. IMHO

sometimes the person who answered first will get rewarded however that is not true all the time...In other cases, the person who asked the question will choose your answer if you submit a better/more logical answer than the first.

I am quick at typing, but I am also quick at reading.
So while contributing my opinions, I learn opinions of other people throughout history.
Following is what I have learned while answering a previous question:

God exists and you act accordingly...................... win!
God exists and you do not act accordingly.........you LOSE!!!!
God does not exist but you act as if he did... .....who cares???
God does not exist but you act as if he did not...who cares???

If your goal is always to be first in line, I would think so. Also a fast connection.
