Christians are followers of Jesus Christ not Christianity. I should know I'm one.
Muslim are the followers of Islam. The five pillers of faith. I know some of the pillers are fasting, praying, pilgrimage to Mecca, giving to the poor and I'm not sure but the fifth could be reading the Quran.

islam
and john fifth is the foremost declaring the faith.
if i am correct they have to say loud in front of witnesses that allah is the only worthy of worship and muhammed is his prophet.

muslim is the pro-noun of islam, one following islam.
language arabic, has origins in hebrew. hence sholom in jews.
most linguists beleive that either arabic and hebrew are sisiter languages or hebrew is mother and arabic is daughter, probably similaritiesof main matter of a large number of words.

Muslims are not named after any person.

Muslim comes from the triliteral root S-L-M which is also where Islam comes from.

This root has meanings of :

Submission(Islam),
Peace (Salam from the phrase Salam Alaykum)

Muslim is from the submission connotation ie islam. Meaning one who submits to god.

So we are named after an action/verb of submitting to god.
