He can only help himself. You give him the proper guidance as you have his entire life and insist that he do it. The most important thing is to not be an "enabler". I sure hope he is not sleeping all day under your roof, don't give him any money, no food, no nothing until he proves he can be an adult and do things for himself. I hope he doesn't have to be Bubba's girlfriend before he figures this out on his own.

Sleeping all day....that's not a drug that i'm aware of. But i don't think rehab is a good idea, a friend of mine was in rehab for a while and he just met other drug dealers and new things there to do, maybe call a boot camp Sergent.....it worked on the Jerry Springer show : )

As long as you are trying to "fix" him, he will continue to do the same. He is using you as a way to not face the realities of the world. He needs to get the boot and move out or get a job. Time for him to grow up and take care of himself. If he uses drugs and won't go to counceling, then there is nothing you can do for him. Best medicine for someone like this is Tough Love. He needs to go out on his own. It may hurt you to do it, but you are not going to be around forever to take care of him. This needs dealing with now!

you might wanna get into more detail on the substanace cuz sleeping all day isn't one but all you have to do is prove that he's a threat to himself of someone else and they'll make him go to counseling

Do not enable him by giving him any support physically, financially, etc. unless he agrees to get help. Watch the show Intervention on the AandE channel on Sunday nite at 10.

First, get yourself to Al Anon. Second, you can help him by letting him face the consequences of his actions--do not do anything to enable or help his drug use. I'd help him by letting him find another place to live.
