Dear digilook,

It is a phrase that means that sometimes people end up somewhere they never intended to go.

In a religious sense- it emphasizes the impotance of believing the right things about heaven and hell. There are many different ideas about God and heaven and hell and in the end only one can be right. For example Jesus said he is the way, truth, and the life and no one comes to the father except through Him (only one way to have a relationship with God)- while others believe that "all roads lead to God" (one has to be right and one has to be wrong. The wrong road will lead you to the wrong destination.

Hope that helps,

Nickster

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
something that you say which means people often intend to do good things but much of the time, they do not make the effort to do those things. 'I kept meaning to visit her but I didn't get round to it.' 'The road to hell is paved with good intentions.'

Even though I think I'm doing the right thing in a situation, the reality may be that the action will be the wrong/harmful thing. What it tells me on a practical level is that I need to try and get my own narrow perspectives and thoughts out of the way in order to be trully helpful. e.g. I might be thinking that chastising and judgement of someone for drinking will help them but the result may be that it only makes them more defensive and more likely to drink.

Intention means something with a purpose. If the purpose is good, how could it lead to hell? Unless ones purpose is anothers aim to destroy. Interpreting the meaning behind the intent is up to the one with the purpose. Good, bad, or otherwise.

This means that no matter how good your intentions, if you don't follow through on them and actually *do* something, you are as much on the path to evil as someone who has bad intentions.

It means that one can start with good intentions and end up with a bad result.

That even the best of intentions can lead to a very bad result.

It means there are a lot of people that lead good lives, without sin, but did not accept Jesus into their lives and become a Christian that went to hell. You can live a pure life, sin free, but, if you do not accept Jesus into your life you will still go to hell.

I believe it means that we really mean well in our intending to do well, good works, don't hurt others, give to poor, etc., so therefore we think our goodness will get us to Heaven.........
You think I am already good enough to go to Heaven........but that is satan's way of leading you on the road to Hell.........

We sincerely believe: do good = Heaven, do bad = Hell

How good do you have to be to get to Heaven?
God is holy, and requires holiness. Holiness is purity. Even though you may think you are good enough, even one sin disqualifies you from being in the presence of God. You could never be good enough. That is why you need Jesus.
The Bible says that there is none good enough. "There is none who does good, there is not even one," (Rom. 3:12).

Goodness is measured by God's standard - not yours.
To say that you are good enough means that Christ did not have to die. But He did die to save sinners. The Bible says if righteousness can come by good deeds, then Christ didn't need to die (Gal. 2:21), but He did, so being good isn't enough.

as you see.........it is not what we can do for Him, but what He has done for us.

It means that good intentions don't get you to heaven. It is a summation of the argument Paul sets forth in Romans that we are saved by our faith. Good intentions are, at best, acts andnot faith
