him a message,asking him to be my friend. He accepted me to be his friend and we chatted a while and asked me if I wanted to go out to dinner and meet me at a nearby restaurant. I said that sounds good ,but not right away. I had an out of town friend arrive the next week and couldn't make it that week either. My guest stayed another week and I told him of this. I told him we will do it next week for sure and told him my days off. He left me a message, saying he met someone over Labor Day and they are going to start seeing each other. I am so depressed. I went out and bought a new outfit and cut my hair, and was just really looking forward to the date. Did I make him wait to long?

No, you didn't. I know that answer doesn't make sense at first but hear me out.
You weren't able to meet him at the time and you had a valid reason. You shouldn't have any regrets and in fact this could be a blessing in disguise.
Think about it this way: The mySpace Guy backed off his pursuit of friendship with you in favor of his new lady friend, which satisfied his immediate needs. But what will that type of guy do once he meets yet another girl even nicer than his new lady friend?
I hope you don't stay depressed for long because you've shown a greater level of maturity by placing your out-of-town friend at a higher priority than this new potential mySpace mate.
Your guy is out there and most likely you won't be initially meeting him through mySpace. Best of luck!

Sounds to me like all he wanted was a piece of azz. But then again, there's no rule that state that he has to wait for you. Neither of you said hey, let's get to know each other 2 months before meeting or anything like that. You didn't even realize that he was chatting with other girls. I wouldn't worry about it, you sound like you're still young. Give it time to find the right person. Just be glad that at least he was truthful to you.

Relax, this could have just as easily happened even if you had gone out with him right away. He was looking to date and dating means meeting various people. Unfortunately he just happened to decide he liked this other person enough to start dating her exclusively. For all you know he might have gone out with you a time or two and still have gone with her and ended up deciding to date her only. I know it sucks, but that is just how it is. Stop regretting it and find someone to go out with and have fun this weekend since your already looking hot with your new outfit and hair style.

i'm not gonna say get over it cuz u obviously really got into him.. i'm surprised u went thru all that trouble for him but ok.. all i'm gonna say don't ever leave a guy hanging for so long.. especially after the guy asks u to meet him n u want to.. i mean even with the reality of ur situation the guy prolly thought u were just trying to avoid him.. its only natural that any guy with think that.. i'd say its time to get over him although u might feel bad.. keep in touch n maybe tell him bout it.. maybe it might work out.. i'd say just go find another guy.. its harder done than said i know..

not that you made him wait to long its just that you made him feel like he was second best... I am sure your friend would not have minded if you had gone out to dinner with him.. you blew it... you kept putting him and and he felt like you had no intention on meeting him... I hope all goes well with him...
Next time just some one asks you out for dinner go and don't make excuses..

no, but while ur friend was n town would have been the best time 2 met him. u could have had some body there just n case it did go the way u wanted it or if he was weird.
