Beef goes best after onion soup. A nice big juicy roast beef, with Yorkshires, roasted potatoes and carrots, and wilted spinach or green beans. And a big Cabernet Sauvignon. Oh man I just made myself hungry. Just noticed the chicken and shrimp thing, dang.
Okay how about Chicken Marsala with Pesto pasta?
"A delicious, classic chicken dish -- lightly coated chicken breasts braised with Marsala wine and mushrooms. Easy and ideal for both a quick weeknight entree AND serving to company."

RE:
What main dish goes well with french onion soup?
I am making french onion soup and I am in need of a main dish to eat it with. One setback...I only eat chicken or shrimp. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

French onion soup on it's own is a meal. Make sure to use a nice, hearty fresh bread to make it extra filling.

Roast a whole chicken in a butter, rosemary, parsley and garlic rub mixture. Don't forget to rub the inside of the bird and under the skin.

The soup is so filling, just a salad would be enough to go with it.
