[Pickthal 47:1] Those who disbelieve and turn (men) from the way of Allah, He rendereth their actions vain.
[Pickthal 47:2] And those who believe and do good works and believe in that which is revealed unto Muhammad - and it is the truth from their Lord - He riddeth them of their ill-deeds and improveth their state.
[Pickthal 47:3] That is because those who disbelieve follow falsehood and because those who believe follow the truth from their Lord. Thus Allah coineth their similitudes for mankind.
[Pickthal 47:4] Now when ye meet in battle those who disbelieve, then it is smiting of the necks until, when ye have routed them, then making fast of bonds; and afterward either grace or ransom till the war lay down its burdens. That (is the ordinance). And if Allah willed He could have punished them (without you) but (thus it is ordained) that He may try some of you by means of others. And those who are slain in the way of Allah, He rendereth not their actions vain.
[Pickthal 47:5] He will guide them and improve their state,
[Pickthal 47:6] And bring them in unto the Garden which He hath made known to them.
[Pickthal 47:7] O ye who believe! If ye help Allah, He will help you and will make your foothold firm.

The media goes straight for the sensationalism, and Islam is what they are now targeting. Some of Bush's comments do not help any, either.

If there was such a media during the Crusades-I wonder what they would have said. The Crusades were the most horrific thing to be on the face of the earth.

There is nothing wrong with Islam. There is only wrong in the way it is presented to the world by those who want to sell the news.

G-d help us all.

Hi there
Personally i don't think that any religion, let alone Islam is "bad". After all, isn't religion supposed to be about serving God in a positive way. To me it doesn't matter if you're Muslim, Jewish, Catholic ( i am one ) or anything else. No matter what we call him, God is God to everyone. Who's to say which religion is better than another? It just so happens that Muslim attacked the U.S . What if it had been a Jew, would the U.S been attacking the Jews? Yes, the media has alot to do with how the world sees things, and people tend to believe everything they see. I think that the media is to blame for how people form their opinions as the media is totally biased.

Hello Muslim friend!
I am a Christian who desperately hopes that the misunderstandings that have been overwhelming public opinion since the rise of terrorism can be overcome.

There is an honest reason for fear of the extremists who will kill themselves for the opportunity to kill infidels. But I believe in my heart that they are in the vast minority. From what I have read of the Qur'an, I see a religion of peace, as you say.

I have thought that it would help if the Muslim clerics would speak out publicly, rather than only individuals and academics. But I have been thinking of reasons why they may not think it wise to do so. Still, there is much suffering on all sides do to this misunderstanding and I would be in favor of anything that could shed some light on the reality of Islam so that we can all begin to remember the truth that we are all brothers.

May you be filled with peace from God(Allah).

Extreme fundamentalists are the problem, and not just in Islam. God murdered over a million people in the Old Testament of the Holy Bible. The Christian Crusade also killed millions in the name of God, and right here in America Christians tied innocent women to a stake and burned them alive in the name of God. Even today Catholics and Protestants bomb each other in northern Ireland routinely.

The core teaching of all major religions is a message of unity and Love. People in power then twist those teachings into the mistaken beliefs that their religion is "The" religion and all others are false. This is a simple control mechanism but many people of weak minds get brainwashed and then carry this superiority complex to the extreme.

The truth is, all teachings that embody the message of Love can lead to salvation.

Um, look, I'm sure that most Muslems are fine, I would never say that they're all terrorists, but religion is not a good thing, in my opinion. And the more fundamentalist a religion is, the worst it is, and Islam tends towards fundamentalism. And, excuse me, but women are NOT treated as royality in your religion. Women aren't free at all. They cannot walk down the street in many middle-eastern countries, can't drive a car, are denied education, and are sometimes killed in "Honor killings" if they're not virgins. There is no excuse for the treatment of women under Islam. This is the reason that Islam isn't deserving of respect -- it is barely deserving of tolerance. And, I'm sorry, but the whole, "it's a religion of peace" thing is simply absurd. I'm sure most people are peaceful, but Islam is clearly very easily manipulated to make people crazy & violent. This is like the argument, "Guns don't kill people, people kill people". Sure, but guns are the best TOOL for killing people, just like fundamentalist religions are the best tool for twisting people's minds into hateful, intollerant, behavior. (Also like hanging homosexuals.)
Fundamentalist Islam isn't much worse than Fundamenalist Christianity. I'm sure if some of those fundamenalist Christians were able to rule over a country without limits to thier power, they'd be executing gays, too. IT'S RELIGION THAT SUCKS.

Not all the Media. Some TV stations and Newspapers project Islam as a wonderful religion.
The problem with Islam is with itself; Islam gives itself a bad name by not going after those who have kidnapped the true Muslim faith.
Thanks for condemning Bin Ladin; now lets all condemn the behavior of the Iranian leader who says that Israel should not exist. ok????

It is not the concept of Islam that is bad. It is the concept of organized religion that is bad. Think about it. Religious organizations make their money from donations. More followers, more donations. So when a priest or a rabbi or an emam tell their followers that other religions are bad and that you must do your part to save people by converting them, is it really becausethey want to save souls, or is it because they want people to convert to get their donations.

Most religions have a rule such as "live and let live." If devout followers of any religion would get off of their high horses, stop judging followers of other religions, then we would have peace in this world.

Lastly, organized religion has actually been the cause of most wars that this world has seen. It's OK to believe, but it's not OK to follow blindly.
