The peoples of Mexico and Canada are fine people. Their countries are not much unlike our own. In one nation, UNA, yes the mexican people would initially migrate north; but the U.S.& Canadian money would also go south building on the beautiful Pacific & Gulf Coasts. Eventually it would all even out, we'd extend our wealth to the south and provide commerce there. That would end outsourcing & create a more level playing field. Aren't these imigration laws racist? Isn't that why you support them (if you do?). If we united then they wouldn't be illegal imigrants, what's your arguement then? Only the American-Indians are native here, the rest of our families came here for opportunity, prosperity and freedom. I see a United North America as one nation under God with freedom and opportunity for all! Welcome! .....(Mexicans & Canadians are not terrorists, so don't go there).

I'm a little unsettled by the people who seem to be for this idea, their answers give the impression that the u.s is the only country that is against illegal immigration. Canada does not allow it either and Mexico is harder on their illegals than we are. anyway so your idea is that two countries who have built their wealth with time and hard work should just hand that wealth over to a poor country? everyone speaks of being tired of paying for the poors welfare, if you unite Mexico with the U.S and Canada how many more welfare checks do you think the government will be signing? and you need to learn a little more history, not all of Americas ancestors came for freedom and prosperity, many of them were criminals that Europe didn't want and were shipped over here.

It will never happen because Canada and Mexico don't want it to happen. Even Puerto Rico rejected a vote to become the 51st state as they would rather be a territory, where they get all the benefits of freedom without having to pay the taxes.

There is nothing racist about our immigration laws, they allow hundreds of thousands a year into this country legally from all over the world.

The only problem with our immigration policy is that we don't catch and deport the criminals that invade our country illegally.

You sure are a pipe dreamer. What laws would we live by? Those of Canada? Mexico? or the United States?

Imigration laws are racist? Maybe you think that but I certainly don't. Where else in the world do you find a larger mixture of different people and cultures other then right here in our United States.

Well, it was Jefferson's vision to have the entire North American continent as the United States. I'm not sure about Candada, but Mexico is a wealth of natural resources that could be used by the United States that would offset the increases in the welfare state because of such a large gain in impoverished citizens.

Look, I'm sure you are all peace loving citizens (mostly). And I have no qualms about travelling to the U.S. or Mexico. But I love my country, and it just wouldn't be the same if we were all amalgamated. We just need to get along, synchronize our laws, and yes, immigrate legally. I don't see how the laws are racist. There is a definite strain put on the economies of North America through the existence of Illegal immigrants. Canada welcomes everyone, legally.

Immigration laws are not racist, they are protective of the resources and services of the nation paying for those resources and services.

No, I think we should strengthen and enforce our immigration laws, and certainly should NOT do away with them.

We limit poor immigrants because they cost more in education and services than they pay in taxes, and when you multiply the amount of the net loss by the number of illegals here you get failing schools and services for our own people, as well as eroded wages and benefits for our workers.

Their better life is at our expense. I am certain they would not pay for us. Why on earth should we pay for them?

Under your scenario, the rich would get richer, the poor, competing globally for the lowest possible wage, would get poorer, and the middle class would disappear along with any hope of upward mobility through quality, free education. I don't like that picture one bit.

Ok...you're an idiot. First of all, even Native Americans aren't really natives here. Get your facts straight. Also, the fact that we have borders don't make up racists. Do you own a home or have an apartment? Do you close your doors and locked them at night before you go to sleep? Why? Are you a racist?? Why is it that you closing your doors to the outside world is alright, but when it comes to borders its wrong? Your walls and roof are your broders, if you really want to argue this, why don't you open up all your doors and tear down your walls for the public to use? Combine Canada and Mexico with the US to make a UNA? Give me a break. The GNP of Mexico isn't enough for itself to maintain its people, their economy is in crisis, so you want us to spend our money to rebuild their economy and land? So we combine everything? Are we going to be using English? Spanish? French? Sure, we MIGHT eventually even out, but at what cost to start? Who is going to put up the money. And are you implying that the US is being racist for having these laws? Every country has them, this isn't a matter of racism but a protection of our own resources. Again, my analogy of your home, would you like it if a random person just came in slept on your couch, wouldn't leave, ate all your food and just occupied all of your space and resources? What would you do? Accept that?
Borders and laws are put in place for our protection. We are not responsible for the lack of resource, structure, or welfare of those in Mexico or Canada. No one is saying that they are terrorist so why don't you get that out of your head. This vision of Utopia you want is not possible. Not when what you are asking is a United government where 1 leading country will support and maintain the other 2.
Your question brings up two different issues, racism and border control...up holding the law and gaurding the borders in efforts to bring LEGAL immigrants in and ILLEGAL out is not racist. To keep them ALL out and not allow ANY to enter is racist. The United States is not doing that~ so I don't see the justification of your argument.

Wake up, or dream of something more realistic
Oh and the government spp plan...not finalized not in effect and won't be in effect

I'm amazed people don't know that this is underway already ... did you read the government's spp plan? www.spp.gov ... to be finalized by 2010 ... the agreement was signed last year between Bush, Fox and the Canadian prime minister, to effectively do away with borders between the three countries, and border control such as we know it being handled by all three countries ... the idea is for free trade, free flow of goods, people and services across the border, a la the European Union ... which is one reason why Bush is so dead set against securing our southern border ...

This is not a fantasy, the agreement is signed, behind the backs of the American tax payers, as usual ...

There would still be outsourcing. If Mexico and Canada became part of the current American Governemtn they would follow the same business tax systems that are in America today which causes outsourcing now.

If we extended the tax laws to Canada and Mexico then we would push even more jobs out of mexico, at least in the begining. Businesses would just start outsourcing even more to other cheap places like China.

No way, never no how. I don't mind Canada, but I like them better as a trusted allied nation to the north than 10 more states (it would ruin the ambiance anyway). The nation state for all of it's flaws is still the best and only deterrent to a global dictator. No union ever.
