I'm assuming you're British? If so you can register online - just make sure you let your family know you have done. Follow this link:

http://www.uktransplant.org.uk/ukt/how_to_become_a_donor/how_to_become_a_donor.jsp

and that will take you through the steps to register.

PS (a few hours later) I'm really pleased to have come back on and found out that some people have gone on and registered since I posted the link - that's brilliant! So well done to you for asking it and giving the opportunity for others to think about it and sign up too, and well done to those that have gone and done it because of this question!

The most obvious place would be some medical establishment, or you could write out your wishes on a card and keep it in your wallet or diary. Let your loved ones know. Unfortunately I don't think anyone will want my bits and pieces, although it is my wish, as I'm already 85 years old. I'm very fit, but my bits must be a bit worn out by now!!

Most states track donors by their drivers licenses. Or you can let your loved ones know your wishes in case something happens to you, they will know that you wanted to donate your organs.

You have to go to the health department to make it official. If it's only on your driver's license it can be fought by family members. And good for you. Someone like you is the reason my husband is alive today. God bless you!

I want you to know what a generous thing youare doing. GOOD FOR YOU!!!!! I know you can have this as a part of your driver's licence. If you are too young to drive, why not ask a trusted adult to guide you to the right place? I'm proud of you!
