I don't know why but spiders are creepy to me. I don't have a phobia or anything, but for some reason, they give me the heebie jeebies.

Maybe it's because of their eight, hairy, spindly legs and the way they creepy crawl...

Maybe it's because up close, they look like monsters.

I admire them for their ability to spin some intricate webs. And I'm glad they catch flies and other bugs.

But still...sadly, whenever I see a spider, I let out a little scream.

I saw on a nature show that you can skewer large tarantulas and roast them over a fire until their hair singes off. Their cooked bellies have white meat that supposedly tastes like lobster.

sigh.

I dunno...they still creep me out.

I wonder if this fear is innate or taught. It can't be either because my little girl does not fear them. I have passed on my genes to her plus modeled very fearful reactions to spiders but she just rolls her eyes and squashes them with a shoe.

I love spiders. I have a collection of tarantulas. I have a model of the first spider in the fossil record on my desk. I'm a member of about 30 spider-loving clubs, including the two largest in the world.

Paul Hillyard wrote a book called "The Book of the Spider" which is worth reading, either as a spider lover or an arachnophobe. My love of spiders grew while reading the book, and an arachnophobe may be a bit more calm with some understanding of the subject.

Very much so, I was bitten on the ear by a brown recluse spider, my ear looked like an elephant ear, if I had not got to the emergency room when I did, I don"t know what could have happened, so every since then they terrify me.

Nope... but my six foot ex did and our six foot son does... and I'm closer to the arachnoid's at only five foot one;-)

When I met and married this gorgeous hunk in 1977, he saw himself as my knight in shining armour... and so did I, until, one night early in our union, he screamed from upstairs....

"Jeanie... Jeanie... Jeanie... come quickly..."

I ran upstairs to see my four pretty daughters immobilised with shock as they stood outside the lavatory door wondering what was wrong. I opened the door to find my new partner standing on the toilet seat, terrorised by a medium sized (I would have understood a wolf spider scaring him) spider, frozen on the spot with fear at the foot of the loo.

I just couldn't stop laughing and neither could my girls... my knights bright armour was decidedly tarnished forever;-)

I rescued him and put it outside... pity really, if I'd left him there for 23 years, she would haven't stolen him away, would she?

Not a fear but I just do not like them. When I was about 11 I put my coat on and felt something inside ...yes it was a BIG black spider ....ooo I shudder now thinking about it!

Chuff me yes! I once had a spider in my bath the size of a small African nation. I swear it was using my loofah when I found it. I tried to put it in a glass and it got me in a headlock and threw my into my own back yard. I've been here ever since and the bugger wont let me back in! Any one got a rolled up newspaper handy?

I am going to tell you how to get rid of them, wear a mask, but get a empty spray bottle wash it out good, buy a small bottle of coconut oil, and put it is the bottle, then you fill it up with white vinegar. spray every room once a month, and you won't see no spiders. This works.

No. I will remove them carefully from the house. I do understand that people can die from a bite, so I use precaution, but it is supposed to be bad luck to kill spiders. I also love snakes.
