I was being sexually harrassed once at a job and reported it to my boss, well the boss didn't do anything because the guy that was doing the harrassing was in a job that no one wanted. I called an agency through the state... can't remember right now which one it was but they said that sexual harrassment was very hard to prove unless you had witnesses. I had witnesses but didn't want them to get involved because they all had families to support. Years later I ran into one of my fellow workers and told him why I had quit and he said I should have said something cause he would have backed me up and there were others as well tht didn't like to boss or the employee who was harrassing me.
Talk to your co-workers and see if anyone would be a witness for you. Every job we quit looks bad on our work history. I've been harrassed in one way or the other in every job I've ever had. Most of it is teasing and I can handle that but when it gets down to rumor spreading, like in my case, or physical abuse, like in your case, this is serious.
I didn't see the first part of your discussion, all I know is what I read here. But from what the state agency told me... probably won't be worth the effort if you don't have a witness.

If your company has a human resources department I would contact them and see if they will take action. If not you might try and talk to your bosses supervisor. If that doesn't work then you should seek the advice of an attorney because not only does your co-worker have an issue but so does the company.

Go to your Human Resource Manager at work and tell them what's been happening and what your boss said about it. If Human Resources doesn't do anything about it talk to a lawyer! Good Luck!

Press charges against him and bring civil action against your supervisor/company for enabling him to behave in such a manner.

get an attourney right away. the harassment is bad enough. grabbing you by the throat is assault , you can have him arrested for that. you can fight this even if you leave your job. act now.
