I was told by several people that the species of the 'Main-coon' is part Racoon?.My cat is @ 20 lbs and has all the markings,(less the mask).Some of my neighbors think it's a Racoon.

No, that is a myth. Go to http://www.cfainc.org/breeds/profiles/maine.html for info on the Maine Coon cat breed.

No, that rumour has been around for years, because of the markings.

Maine Coons can be quite large (especially with their heavy, fluffy fur), but I don't think I've seen one that is 20 pounds.

I had a MC years ago and she (Amy) was one of the kindest, sweetest pets a person could ever hope to have. I hope that you and your cat are very happy.

No it does NOT have Raccoon in it!! It only has the name Coon because of it's size and the origional coloring.

i think you Maine coon and no i have two of them but i will tell you if you p*ss them of you will think your messing with a raccoon! mine are loving then all of a sudden..... bam! they are attacking you! they so cute:) they get their name from looking like a raccoon yes your right the mask.
