Ah, an intelligent question in the religion category! What are the odds?

As a Wiccan, I like to believe that my religion teaches interdependence, more than anything else. We know that, as human beings, we must be self-reliant and responsible for our own actions (we don't believe in Satan and a pagan will never use the excuse, "the devil made me do it!"). We also know that the gods are there for us when we need them.

We worship them out of respect, not fear or the promise that if we can only make it through the hardships of this life, we get life everlasting. Wiccans know we already have life everlasting, we don't have to earn it.

On the other hand, we are not penalized for being independent. Solitary wicca is a fairly common path, particularly in regions where Christianity holds strong sway. But the gods answer all of us all the same.

The only thing Wicca does not teach is total dependence. You are expected to pull your own weight, accept responsibility for your own mistakes, and make your own way. You can turn to the gods for help, but don't expect it if you don't put forth some effort on your own.

First independence. Then interdependence. Never dependence.

As a Christian, I am taught by the bible to depend on God first and foremost. His people are to live interdependently, but never independently.

Toatl independence. Interdependence is not discouraged, but is most definitely considered secondary and not advisable except in two situations: A student/teacher situation (in which case it should not last long) or people who can revert back to independence in an instant if necessary.

Mostly independence. But I could also argue for interdependence, in the sense that we're taught to respect the beliefs of others, and to work with them for the betterment of mankind regardless of petty sectarian differences.

all of the above, in different ways. We are dependent on God, individually responsible for our actions, and interdependent on our spiritual brothers and sisters.

Interdependence.... Love God with all your heart, soul and mind and love others as you love yourself (love yourself).
