Religious fundamentalism is growing, because of the major flaws of materialism and the culture of worshipping technology and enjoying anti-social activities. The purpose of technology is to lessen physical-labor and/or to provide conveniences to the wealthy. Music is just a form of entertainment, many forms of music promote killing, and music in itself is a distraction from reality, and many American soldiers used music when going around in tanks killing Iraqis, so as to escape feelings of guilt for killing innocent Iraqis. Technology is making lives of people so bored, that they turn to fundamentalism. There is nothing wrong with peaceful fundamentalism.

Karen Armstrong provides some good insight (she shows how fundamentalism is an unhealthy religious form in response to a dismissive or cruel secular attitude towards religion):
"And when you suppress religion and try and get rid of it, then it's likely to take unhealthy forms. That's when fundamentalism starts to appear. Fundamentalism has developed in every single one of the major traditions as a response to secularism that has been dismissive or even cruel, and has attempted to wipe out religion. And if you try to repress it -- as happened in the Soviet Union -- there's now a huge religious revival in the Soviet Union, and some of it's not very healthy. It's like the suppression of the sexual instinct. If you repress the sexual instinct and try to tamp it down, it's likely to develop all kinds of perverse and twisted forms. And religion's the same. "

Well, if you mean in the US...we are seeing a scary revival of fundaMENTALism. I believe it is due to fear and a feeling of insecurity and/or inadequacy. However, church numbers are still down. It will be awhile yet before we have matured emotionally enough to put religious superstition behind us, but it will come. The fundaMENTALs are just screaming the loudest at the moment, as if they sense the change and the threat to their livelihoods.

That's because Fundamentalism is a reaction against Modernism. The more powerful Modernism becomes, then so too will Fundamentalism become more powerful.

Many people live with a fear that somehow the technology that connects us will somehow be our undoing. The ancient Aztecs believed that in the last days the tools of men would turn on their masters...

Christianity is growing due to technology (e.g., radio, television, and the internet) in many respects. How does technology militate against the growth of fundamentalist religion?

Technology is utterly unable to satisfy spiritual needs. We are wired to love the God who created us, not devices created BY us. That's why technology will never bring real happiness or satisfaction, only transient pleasure.

Great question!
Please consider these tidbits:
Jews for Jesus = Vegetarians for Hamburgers
God? He or She?
Church? Christianity? Jesus? Dying?
What is the Imacculate Conception supposed to mean?
Does Imacculate Conception have anything to do with "VIRGIN BIRTH"?
Google Imacculate Conception and learn that is NOT.
What else do you falsely believe?
Jesus, the basis of Christianity? .
If Jesus died, he could NOT have been God.
Can Gods die?
If Jesus 'died' on Friday and 'undied' on Sunday, what else besides Saturday was sacrificed?
Did Jesus give up Saturday for us?
No Eternal sacrifice, big deal for a day!
If Jesus died for our sins, there should not be any more sins, else why go through with it?.
If Jesus really DIED, he should be dead, dead, dead!
Life after death is like virginity after childbirth.
If the flesh of Jesus died, what was seen walking and talking on Sunday?
If you believe this stuff, you are not going to like the folks who don't. You want them to believe it too to validate you.
Christians want everyone to convert to their non-thinking in order to be 'saved'.
Believing and not thinking is like choosing to be lost.

I don't see the relevance between "fundamentalism" and technology. Therefore I must give you my spiel:
"I'm sorry but your question has no relevence to reality. Please deposit twenty-five cents and try again. Thank you."

They don't have film, music, or whatever in fundamentalist countries like Iran. It's illegal there.
