I think they are vulgar. Kids think they are hilarious. I looked at one of them and was amazed someone could print something so useless for kids......

To quote my daughter's preschool teacher, Butts are funny. My daughter is eight now and still doesn't really enjoy reading so I'm not opposed to bribing her with butt jokes.

I'd rather she read Captain Underpants than a horribly written, "educational" series like Magic Treehouse. My daughter did like those but they were downright painful to read aloud!

OK so they are silly and useless but they get little boys to read books. As if little boys aren't already laughing hysterically everywhere about boogers and underpants. They aren't exactly an educational wonder but hey they are reading.

Anything that uses the word "Underpants" in the title sounds good to me, and children will love them.

Point blank...Is your child reading them and enjoying them? Kids love puke, boogers and well, underpants are darn funny. I hate them and refuse to read them aloud to my sons but they like them and if it gets then reading them so be it. I read them books with a little more literary content so I know they are getting quality stuff in their lives but I let them pick what ever interest them for quite reading.

My son, who usually hates reading, would beg to get these and actually read them. I say whatever it takes. Didn't you think that underpants were funny when you were 8?

Reading is reading. They look stupid to me but whatever gets them to read is good. Most likely kids tire of the stupid books easily but practice allows their patience to grow into reading better books. When it doubt read them yourself. I read the Series of Unfortunate Events when my son was reading them.
