Not easy answering such a broad question.
Few homes had a TV, 1 phone, 1 phone line kids had to entertain their self, there wasn't all this taking them to 15 different things to keep them occupied. Neighbors and teachers were not afraid to stop crap from some kid. Males worked most women stayed home..
Kids entertained themselves, there was no real option.
Many family members lived nearby so I think families were closer.
Schools, the high school I went to (1700) students had 2 principles, a couple of women for staff, 2 or 3 guidance counselors, 1 nurse and that's it (of course a bunch of teachers). Maybe 25 students/class on average.
Almost all the cars were sedans, fathers for the most part worked on them as compared to today where you have to pay due to the complexity.
We never went out to eat unless it was to a friend or relative.
No fast food places. Gas stations cleaned your windshied they pumped the gas you paid cash maybe ran a tab as you knew the person.
Saw the Sat. matinee for 25 cents they almost always had a B western with a serial of some type and a comedy. Can't remember how much popcorn was I would guess a nickle or a dime.
I suggest you narrow the question.

I cant answer for anyone else but I was born in the fifties, there wasnt a lot of luxuries because rationing was still in for a short while, but on saying that as a child (I have 3 brothers and 3 sisters) I felt we had a lot of fun...we didnt moan about not having what the kids next door had coz everyone was the same.
People tended to watch out for each other more, and generally people cared... to me it seemed to start going downhill from the late 60s early seventies. I wouldnt like to be a child now... I feel that although materially they are better off that they have a harder life to live...keeping up with everyone else.etc. U.K

Black and white TV, lots of family get together's and picnics. Party line phones(sharing phone line with other people), no air conditioning, huge cars and cheap gasoline ($ .25 a gallon) horned rim glasses, sex was not talked about. All girls were good girls who wore puddle skirts, rock an roll music. Other than that not much has changed.

easy going. most all women were house wives , the families were close and spent time together with friends and other family members, they helped with school work and fixed three meals every day, they were loving and caring ..
